About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Design & Delivery Organisation (DDO) team in Santiago, Chile.

In this role, you will support multidisciplinary projects across Canada and North America, delivering electrical engineering solutions for municipal, industrial, water, wastewater, transportation and energy infrastructure projects.

Working in a collaborative global environment, you will contribute technical expertise through all project phases, from planning and concept development through detailed design, construction support and commissioning.

This position offers the opportunity to work with international teams while helping deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the electrical design and delivery of multidisciplinary projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Develop engineering designs for medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) power systems.
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Develop detailed design packages including:
  • Utility interconnections
  • Substation systems
  • Power distribution systems
  • Motor control centres (MCCs)
  • Emergency and standby power systems
  • Building electrical systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Security and communications systems
  • Grounding and bonding systems
  • Equipment layouts and installation details
  • Perform technical reviews and quality assurance of engineering deliverables.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable Canadian codes, standards and project-specific requirements.

Project Delivery

  • Support or lead proposal development, scope definition, fee estimates and technical write-ups.
  • Participate in client meetings and technical workshops.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with process, mechanical, civil, structural, instrumentation and automation disciplines.
  • Provide construction support activities including:
  • Responding to RFIs
  • Shop drawing reviews
  • Site inspections
  • Commissioning support
  • Technical evaluation of contractor submissions
  • Support project managers in managing scope, schedule, budget and deliverable quality.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work closely with project teams located in Canada, Chile and other GHD regions.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and development of electrical engineering standards, procedures and best practices.
  • Foster collaboration across disciplines and contribute to a high-performing project delivery team.

Client Focus

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Support business development activities through technical excellence and client engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering design and project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • MV and LV electrical systems
  • Power distribution
  • Substations
  • Motor control systems
  • Industrial and municipal infrastructure facilities
  • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and/or North American electrical design practices and standards.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower or similar.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
