Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 Salary/year,

Job Category: Engineering, Gradian is an engineering-led, full-line thermal solutions partner serving data center and other mission-critical, commercial, and industrial markets. Headquartered in Maple Grove, MN, with additional facilities across North America, we design and manufacture liquid cooling systems, air handling equipment, heat rejection units, and modular, factory-assembled thermal management solutions.

Gradian was founded through the unification of four complementary, established brands: MAS HVAC, Daedex, DeepCoolAI, and EcoChillers. Together, we act as a single-source provider, deploying cooling technologies as scalable systems optimized for efficiency, spatial constraints, and overall performance. With a vertically integrated engineering and manufacturing model, we pair rapid design turnaround with precision fabrication, so customers can move faster on complex projects where reliability, timeline, and quality all matter.

Why work here

At Gradian, you'll work alongside others who get genuinely fired up by complex problems, see your work go from first sketch to job site in weeks, not years, and know that while we're developing the technologies critical for AI infrastructure to scale, our culture remains people-first by design.

It is core to our identity that we operate as one team — driving to win together, energizing others, and building lasting relationships that make the work fun and rewarding.

Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides ownership for the electrical design of engineered liquid cooling solutions. Highly independent specialist and technical leader for NPD platforms delivering liquid cooling products for data center applications. Leads electrical architecture, standards application, validation rigor, and mentoring to ensure safe, compliant, manufacturable designs for shippable units.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own assigned product and project electrical scope end-to-end, including requirements, architecture, detailed design, calculations, documentation, release, manufacturing support, and verification.
  • Establish electrical architecture for assigned products and projects, including power distribution, protection, panel topology, grounding and bonding, safety circuits, instrumentation, motors, pumps, and VFD integration.
  • Independently review and release complete electrical design packages, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, calculations, bills of materials, and release records.
  • Review and approve work completed by Electrical Engineers, including calculations, component selection, drawings, and design packages.
  • Perform and approve electrical load and feeder calculations, conductor and overcurrent-protection sizing, SCCR evaluations, control transformer and power-supply sizing, voltage-drop calculations, panel thermal-load calculations, motor and VFD sizing, grounding and bonding design, and electrical inputs supporting arc-flash analysis.
  • Independently interpret and apply applicable requirements, including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, IEC 60204-1, applicable CSA requirements, and customer-specific requirements; contribute improvements to Gradian electrical standards.
  • Develop electrical verification requirements, acceptance criteria, and test procedures; support Test & Integration during system-level validation, FWT/FAT, compliance, and certification activities.
  • May lead manufacturing-floor troubleshooting, structured root-cause investigations, disposition of electrical nonconformances, and production-related design changes.
  • Independently review supplier submittals, panel-builder documentation, component substitutions, deviations, and alternate-component proposals.
  • Mentor Electrical Engineers, lead technical reviews, and reinforce sound design, calculation, documentation, and configuration-control practices.
  • Coordinate directly with Mechanical, Thermal, Controls, Test & Integration, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers, certification partners, and customers to resolve technical interfaces and risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial electrical design, OEM product development, control panels, equipment wiring, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to own electrical scope and make independent architecture, component-selection, calculation, and release decisions.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, IEC 60204-1, industrial power distribution, grounding, protection, SCCR, motors, and VFD applications.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD and engineering documentation tools, with the ability to review and release multi-drawing packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical hardware and wiring issues using structured root-cause methods.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to manufacturing, supplier, certification, and customer locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with liquid cooling equipment, HVAC equipment, data center infrastructure, or related engineered industrial products.
  • Experience developing verification plans, acceptance criteria, FAT/FWT procedures, or electrical certification documentation.
  • Experience working with panel builders, component suppliers, NRTLs, or certification partners.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving electrical design or documentation standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC/NFPA, basic arc-flash and electrical safety practices, and industrial power distribution; able to define requirements, review vendor submittals, and drive technical alignment across stakeholders.

Core Competencies
