As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll play a key role in driving innovation across our connected product portfolio, leading electrical hardware design efforts from concept through production while influencing the technical direction of future products.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on design work with technical leadership. You'll collaborate with a talented multidisciplinary team of engineers, serve as a subject matter expert for complex electrical systems, and help bring cutting-edge products to market that make a real impact on global water sustainability.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the electrical hardware design and development of new products and major enhancements, serving as the technical lead for PCB and circuit design activities.
  • Architect, design, and validate analog and digital electronic systems for embedded products and smart sensing technologies.
  • Drive product development from concept through production, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute design verification, validation, and compliance testing for standards such as UL, CSA, CE, EMC, and FM.
  • Partner with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to integrate electrical systems into robust, high-quality products.
  • Define production test methodologies and support the development of manufacturing fixtures, validation tools, and test procedures.
  • Lead technical problem solving, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex product and component issues.
  • Provide expert-level support for sustaining engineering activities and product improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to project planning, technical risk assessments, schedules, and design reviews.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers while fostering engineering excellence and knowledge sharing across the team.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing electronic products, with a strong emphasis on hardware and PCB design.
  • Deep understanding of the complete product development lifecycle, from concept through product launch and ongoing support.
  • Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and system integration.
  • Experience designing hardware for embedded systems utilizing microcontrollers and microprocessors (ARM, 8-bit, 16-bit, or similar architectures).
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic development and PCB layout.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and environmental testing tools.
  • Experience debugging and prototyping embedded electronic systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sensing technologies such as magnetic, optical, flow measurement, or other sensor-based systems.
  • Experience leading technical projects or serving as a technical lead on cross-functional development teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and product certification processes.
  • Experience supporting products in manufacturing and production environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a specific technology area, product platform, or engineering discipline.

Why Badger Meter?

At Badger Meter, you'll have the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems, influence product strategy, and help create technology that supports smarter water use around the world.
