Eaton’s ESSG CPSD PRD Power Reliability Division is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. This position is based at our Broomfield, CO facility. (Relocation is offered)

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - 140,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

The senior electrical engineer will be responsible for sustaining engineering and custom relay configuration for the control systems and electronics used with medium voltage underground distribution switchgear. The electrical engineer identifies creative solutions, performs engineering analysis, creates designs and settings, oversees verification, and contributes to the implementation of product cost savings, product improvements, and engineering process improvement projects.

The ideal candidate will have a background in power systems, medium voltage distribution, and controls. They will also have an aptitude for using technical software such as SEL Accelerator and SAP.

In this role, you will

  • Develop, maintain, and improve product designs for switchgear control systems and protective relay configurations and settings.
  • Coordinate with Application Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Sales, and customers to ensure product requirements meet customer’s requirements, scope of work, and industry standards.
  • Support production and manufacturing engineering to achieve successful production and testing of control systems.
  • Work with Quality, Application Engineers, and customers to analyze, document, and resolve product reliability issues. Write product analysis reports for affected customers.
  • Maintain design guides, product designs, and change notices in appropriate ERP, PDM, and IT systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement new products and features, assisting with verification and validation to meet or exceed product line and industry standards requirements.
  • Set aggressive goals, measure performance, and strive to go beyond what is expected.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve processes, products, and services, appropriately challenge the status quo.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Relocation benefits are being offered for this position. Only candidates that reside or are willing to relocate within 50 miles of Broomfield, CO will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Developing skills in Engineering analysis and digital simulation (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical analysis tools, etc).
  • 2+ years of design experience with electrical controls systems.
  • Strong analytical aptitude to troubleshoot Analog & Digital designs at the component level.
  • Medium voltage design and power system analysis experience.
  • Experience with SEL overcurrent protection relays.
  • Developing effective project leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.
