In Australia, we operate a select, highly skilled, internationally diverse engineering team, providing engineering and design advisory services to Australia's naval programs, and maritime autonomy system development. Our team holds expertise across naval architecture, marine engineering, systems engineering, integrated logistics support, engineering consulting and acquisition program management.

Your New Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join Leidos Gibbs & Cox Australia. As a key member of our engineering team, you will contribute to innovative maritime projects. If you have experience specialising in electrical engineering within the maritime industry, we would love to hear from you.

  • Assess and advise on key electrical system technical risks, including suitability of system characteristics and associated performance and survivability implications.

  • Support the review of technical deliverables from the project’s Head Contractor.

  • Review calculations applying electrical engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria for naval ship designs.

  • Engage with combat system delivery participants to address provision of combat system electrical requirements and establish the associated interfaces.

  • Mentor and share experience and lessons with project team members to advance electrical engineering skills and system knowledge within the project’s technical team

  • Degree-qualified electrical or marine systems engineer with strong knowledge and experience in marine electrical power generation and distribution systems.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and decision authorities, and explain complex positions and issues.

  • A positive, solutions-orientated attitude, with the ability to influence thinking and advocate for the Project team’s interests across multiple program stakeholders with divergent interests.

  • Ability to mentor and share experience and lessons with project team members to build electrical engineering skills, capabilities and knowledge within the team.

  • Important/desirable attributes include knowledge and experience in maritime electrical systems, including the design and specification of marine electrical systems, electrical propulsion systems and power management systems, as well as a clear understanding of the systems engineering process (from specification writing, requirements analysis and traceability through to system-level design, interface definition and requirements management)
