The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGC) Project will double the number of rail tracks and upgrade stations for a section of the Gold Coast Line from Kuraby, a suburb approximately 16km south of Brisbane’s CBD, to Beenleigh, a suburb of Logan City.
About the role
Support Low Voltage Design
Familiarity with Enegrex 11kV and 415V application and NBN applications and process. Knowledge of drawings and standards related to respective application.
Ensure a common approach to design templates, interface management, design deliverables, reporting and delivery program management.
Review and oversee design outputs to ensure compliance with the project requirements.
Ensure that the project management systems are followed for compliance by the engineering team.
Ensure that all elements of the design are coordinated between all design team members (including inter-discipline).
Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of design resources allocated to the project.
Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design.
Ensure that the design conforms to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements.
Endeavour to ensure that the design is executed such that the cost of the related constructed items, are within the project budget and minimise design rework.
Provide all necessary support to the procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
Monitor external design consultants (where applicable) to ensure that the elements of their design (including verification) are coordinated with overall design, procurement and construction requirements.
Liaise with all relevant Authorities on design and construction permits and approvals.
Monitor and control design costs within budget and liaise with management in relation to any design changes.
Participate in design review meetings and close out design issues with reviewers in a timely manner.
Participate in leadership roles for tender preparation including Engineering administrative functions.
Monitor external design consultants to ensure that the elements of their tender design are coordinated with overall tender design.
Adhere to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.
Undertake any projects, technical reviews, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Line Manager or Head of Engineering.
About you
8–10 years’ experience in building services.
RPEQ in Electrical Engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Rail industry experience (station design or previous QR project experience desirable)
Based locally in Brisbane.
Strong knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards (AS/NZS3000, AS/NZS3008, AS/NZS61439, AS/NZS 2293).
Experience in Software like Power CAD/ ETAP, Autodesk Revit or similar.
Experience is specification and report preparation for the project.
Previous experience in large projects involving design change management and its process.
Australian Drivers Licence (optional if public transport viable)
Working Experience with IBM DOOR (desirable)
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks and simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
