Hitachi Energy seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Insulation & Component Bushing) for its Transformer Business at the Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India. Join our Electrical design team for Configure-to-Order and help shape the future of modular transformer design. In this role, you will develop standardized design modules and a configurable product portfolio that accelerates quotation and design processes, reduces lead times, and improves product quality. How you’ll make an impact

  • Create and modify equipment designs with a strong focus on modular design principles and the development of a configurable variants’ portfolio.
  • Build standardized design modules, product configurators, and tools that streamline quotation and design workflows, ensuring iterative improvements to meet evolving market needs.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to simplify designs, boost reuse, and automate processes.
  • Collaborate Globally - Work with customers and cross-functional teams to translate needs into modular rules and product structures.
  • Shape the Future - Build and maintain product configurators, define configuration logic, and improve tools and processes for scalability.
  • Develop libraries of reusable components and ensure manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
  • Implement configuration logic and validation rules.
  • Continuously improve engineering modulation processes, tools, and design quality.
  • Develop module Electrical designs meeting customer requirements.
  • Create standard designs and assemblies suitable for various factories globally.
  • Develop modules reflecting different customer-oriented requirements.
  • Organize Bushing design into distinct modules to decrease lead time.
  • Create and validate standard modules and configurable assemblies.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and provide comprehensive solutions for the engineering value chain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product management, operations, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to collect and integrate design requirements.
  • Assess current and future design modules and optimization needs in relation to project and business objectives.
  • Ensure modular designs align with manufacturability and component availability.
  • Support selection of standardized components.
  • Validate modules and assemblies to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
  • Produce standard customer drawings, manufacturing drawings, and release Bill of Materials. Add separate module lists to simplify part ordering.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 9–12 years of experience in design engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and driven ownership.
  • Open to change, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Creo).
  • Knowledge of Lean Engineering or Design for Configuration principles.
  • Proven experience in modular design and product standardization.
  • Experience in modulation design processes.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
