  Senior Electrical Designer

Experience Level: 7+ Years
Location: Birmingham/ REMOTE
Contract- 3 Years

The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for developing detailed electrical system designs for industrial, automation, building, or machinery applications. This role collaborates closely with engineers, architects, and cross-functional project teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant electrical designs.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in CAD-based electrical design, deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles, and the ability to independently develop and review complex design packages.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Development

• Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives

• Develop electrical system layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams

• Design electrical systems for:

  • Industrial machinery

  • Building systems

  • Automation systems

  • Other electrical applications

• Specify and select electrical components, materials, and equipment

CAD & Technical Tools

• Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks Electrical, etc.) to create and modify drawings

• Maintain proficiency in design software and stay current with enhancements

• Perform drawing updates and revisions as required

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and industry standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)

• Review designs for adherence to regulatory and safety requirements

Documentation & Deliverables

• Prepare and maintain organized documentation including:

  • Electrical drawings

  • Specifications

  • Bills of Materials (BOMs)

• Prepare technical reports and project documentation

• Perform quality checks and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness

Collaboration & Problem-Solving

• Work with engineers, architects, vendors, and plant staff to integrate electrical systems

• Address design-related issues and provide effective solutions

• Support project stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field

• 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer or similar role

• Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices

• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming and control systems

• Experience in industrial or power-related environments

• Experience working directly with plant operations teams
