Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration Systems (Refrigeration) helps improve the transport and shipping of temperature-controlled cargoes with a complete line of equipment and services for refrigerated transport, industrial cooling, retail display and cold chain visibility. For 50 years, the Refrigeration business has been an industry leader, providing customers around the world with the most advanced, energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable container refrigeration systems and generator sets, direct-drive and diesel truck units, trailer refrigeration systems, mechanical systems and refrigerated display cases.

About this role

Carrier Refrigeration is seeking a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EH&S) for our Athens and Jefferson, GA facilities. The EH&S Manager is responsible for leading and managing the facilities’ safety, health, and environmental activities to build a strong safety culture. This is an onsite role mainly based in Athens, GA.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement actions to facilitate a strong safety culture through leadership and employee engagement
• Ensure compliance with all pertinent OSHA, EPA and OBE requirements, programs, and regulations
• Provide guidance and support to facilities leadership on safety, health and environmental aspects of Operations
• Lead interaction with on-site Security Service provider
• Maintain the Carrier database and other safety and environmental-related records in accordance with federal, state, local, and company requirements
• Oversee, evaluate and continuously improve facilities' safety initiatives to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and to build a strong safety culture
• Support the Annual Safety Plan development
• Coordinate required safety documentation for the facilities (i.e. JSAs, Machine Guarding & PPE Assessments and New Equipment Evaluations)
• Review and ensure proper updating and compliance of Facility Written Programs (i.e. LOTO, PIT, and Hazcom)
• Offer support to Safety Committee and Plant Safety Project work teams led by line leadership
• Monitor “task-based of department audits” and “task-based observations” to assure it is conducted with rigor and intensity and that findings are properly addressed
• Coach site leadership to be Safety Champions and live safety as a value integrated into the way the sites operate

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7 years plus EH&S work experience or factory EH&S management experience in the manufacturing industry

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree or above, in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
• Worked for a multinational company
• OSHA, PSM, EPA Regulations, Building Codes
• Prepare and submit environmental permits and forms
• Knowledge of National and Local EH&S legislation
• Confidence to lead meetings, and coach peers & leaders
• Experience in communication with external parties, including local government agency
• Organizational skills, work independently, and prioritize work to achieve deliverables
• English verbal and written communications skills
