Job Description

Harvard Bioscience is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Technician to join our Engineering team. This individual will play a pivotal role in both new product development and continuation engineering activities for our BTX platform, Fluidic systems and Ventilator products. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electrical/electronic systems, hands on troubleshooting and prototype assembly/testing, while collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing to support the full product lifecycle. This unique position will require the candidate to work on the BTX product line for 6 months in the Boston facility prior to the product line transfer to Minneapolis.

Essential Job Functions

  • · Provide advanced technical support for the design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical/electronic products.
  • · Assist engineers with prototyping, validation, and verification activities during new product development.
  • · Support continuation (sustaining) engineering by diagnosing and resolving issues with existing products and systems.
  • · Provide manufacturing support by performing component-level troubleshooting, rework, and assembly on printed circuit board assemblies and other electronic subassemblies.
  • · Serve as an electrical technical resource to resolve complex issues, including production challenges, product failures, system issues, field issues and incoming materials issues.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, test reports, and configuration control records

skills and abilities required

  • · Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics, PCB-level troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • · Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, hi-pot testing, safety analyzers and soldering/rework equipment.
  • · Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • · Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • · Exceptional soldering skills with a strong understanding of soldering standards. Experience with micro soldering is a plus.
  • · Experience with environmental, EMC, or regulatory testing processes is a strong plus.
  • · Experience with high voltage products is a strong plus.
  • · Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing and test equipment is a plus.
  • · Competent user of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Azure DevOps)

Education and Experience and/or equivalent Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related discipline with 10 years of experience; or equivalent technical experience
