OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Senior Educational Technology Specialist serves as team lead for the school's Educational Technology team and serves as the school's primary driver of classroom instructional technology strategy, including the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. This role combines people leadership with hands-on instructional technology expertise, drawing on direct K-12 classroom teaching experience to guide faculty adoption of new tools with credibility and practical judgment. The Senior Educational Technology Specialist coordinates daily support operations, and partners closely with the Director of Educational Technology to design professional development, set department goals, and translate the school's technology vision into day-to-day practice. This is a full-time, year-round, exempt, professional staff position that reports to the Director of Educational Technology and works in close partnership with the Director of Infrastructure and Director of Information Systems.

This position is expected to be on campus year-round Monday–Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm with flexibility to work additional hours as needed, including occasional evenings for professional development or school events.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Educational Technology & AI Integration

  • Lead the design and delivery of professional development and in-service programs that help faculty effectively integrate technology and AI tools into classroom instruction, in partnership with the Director of Educational Technology.
  • Draw on direct K-12 classroom teaching experience to evaluate, pilot, and recommend AI-enabled instructional tools and platforms that are practical and pedagogically sound.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the school's guidelines for responsible AI use by faculty and students, balancing instructional innovation with academic integrity.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in educational technology and AI in education and translate relevant developments into actionable recommendations for faculty and administration.
  • Oversee the creation of instructional content (videos, guides, and resources) for faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Monitor program-wide adherence to the Acceptable Use Policy and support continuous improvement of related procedures.

Support & Operations

  • Own the technology help desk and ticketing system; establish and monitor service-level standards and team performance metrics.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues raised by faculty, staff, students, or Specialists.
  • Oversee the school's Mobile Device Management (MDM) strategy and ensure Specialists are equipped to manage day-to-day MDM operations.
  • Oversee support for student and staff account systems (Google, Help Desk, Active Directory, etc.).

General & Administrative

  • Partner with the Director of Infrastructure on technology inventory, device lifecycle planning, and network/hardware support escalated beyond the Specialist team.
  • Manage budget, purchasing, and vendor relationships for instructional technology and Specialist team resources.
  • Support the Director of Educational Technology in strategic planning and departmental goal-setting.
  • Work closely with other members of the Technology Department on cross-functional projects, including information systems and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Engage in the life of the school community through presence at school Masses, assemblies, rallies, sporting events, and visual and performing arts events.

Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills across all levels of the school community.
  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives, with the ability to translate strategy into operational plans.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical, with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Current driver's license and ability to drive for occasional pick-up or drop-off of supplies/equipment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
