We are seeking a
creative, experienced senior editor to join Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing,
the young readers’ division of one of Australia’s leading independent trade
publishers.
Working closely
with our passionate publishing team and creators, you will edit and
project-manage a variety of illustrated junior-fiction series, picture books,
graphic novels and illustrated non-fiction. You will oversee projects from
manuscript stage through to press, including scheduling, structural editing,
copyediting and proofreading.
Along with exceptional
creative judgement and editorial expertise, you’ll have a passion and
appreciation for visual storytelling, impeccable project-management skills, and
a commitment to author care.
If you have 4+
years’ experience in editorial (preferably in-house) and a passion for making
books that kids love to read, we’re excited to hear from you. Preference will
be given to applicants with experience in children’s publishing, and demonstrated
expertise in editing graphic novels and picture books will be
highly valued.
Salary will be
as per the Book Industry Award, in the range of $82,000 - $85,000 + super, commensurate with experience. This role may be based in our Melbourne or Sydney office.
