Mō te tūranga - About the role


The Senior ECP Technical Consultant plays a key role in supporting the Payroll Team and SAP SuccessFactors, with a primary focus on New Zealand payroll while also contributing to other geographies as needed. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP), providing deep functional and technical expertise. The consultant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of both production and standby SAP SuccessFactors environments, delivering reliable application support. Additionally, the role requires strong domain expertise in New Zealand payroll, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across payroll processes.

Role Location: Auckland or Wellington
Role Type: 18 - month Secondment/Fixed term
Hours: Standard, Monday to Friday 37.5hrs with some contributions to 24/7 roster

You will be responsible for:

  • Be a critical member of a global team supporting payroll operations across multi-geographies, primarily focused on New Zealand Payroll.
  • Support & maintain SAP SuccessFactors ECP and Platform, ensuring systems are healthy, accurate and secure.
  • Support the accurate processing of a complex payroll, ensuring compliance with New Zealand legislation.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to collaborate with peers in multiple geographies and work in a team environment
  • On-call Support: Willingness to provide on-call support during payroll finalization and run.

To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:


Must have skills:

  • Technical proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors, Employee Central Payroll (ECP); with a strong understanding on NZ Payroll and Payroll operations.
  • System Configuration and Data Integrity: Experience in customized payroll configuration, system configuration, data integrity, and ECP transports.
  • Skilled in ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming).
  • ITIL, DEVOPs/SAFe/Agile Frameworks: Solid understanding of ITIL, DEVOPs/SAFe/Agile frameworks
  • Soft Skills: Effective communication, collaboration, time management, adaptability, and attention to detail.


Good to have skills:

  • Proficient across all SAP SuccessFactors modules.
  • Skilled in solution implementation and adhering to industry best practices.
  • Sound understanding of Technology standards and operating framework
  • Understanding of HR business functions.
