Job Description

At ZEISS Extended Reality (XRX), a newly established global Strategic Business Unit in the scale-up phase, we are dedicated to innovation and excellence. Our goal is to deliver cutting-edge XR vision correction and optical systems to consumers around the world, ensuring we are the preferred partner in the XR market. We empower our customers and individuals with solutions that enhance productivity and change the way we work and live

The E-Commerce Manager will be the strategic and operational driver behind advancing the ZEISS Extended Reality Online Shop for optical and XR eyewear. In this role, you will lead the modernization, scaling, and continuous evolution of ZEISS’s direct-to-consumer (D2C) and partner-linked digital commerce capabilities.

Your mission is to elevate the ZEISS Online Shop from a premium retail presence to a leading online optical retail platform — shaping customer journeys, expanding our digital footprint across markets, and embedding e-commerce as an integral part of ZEISS’s omnichannel strategy.

You will combine business strategy with hands-on execution, aligning technology, data, and customer experience to accelerate ZEISS’s digital transformation.

Your role

  • Define and execute the long-term e-commerce roadmap for ZEISS Extended Reality, including platform evolution, international scaling, and integration with brand and retail strategies.

  • Lead the conceptual and operational upgrading of the ZEISS Online Shop, focusing on advancing the platform’s digital architecture, scalability, personalization, and premium user experience.

  • Align online and offline commerce to design seamless omnichannel customer journeys that connect ZEISS’s retail partners, digital services, and physical touchpoints.

  • Scout and pilot new digital retail capabilities, such as virtual try-on, prescription integration, and self-refraction interfaces, in partnership with ZEISS innovation teams to drive innovation leadership.

  • Continuously refine the online customer journey by applying a customer-centric mindset using behavioral insights, UX testing, and performance analytics.

Your Profile

  • Strong strategic mindset with hands-on ability to deliver measurable growth.
  • Proven experience in scaling or transforming e-commerce platforms within premium consumer goods, tech, or optical retail
  • Deep understanding of digital commerce technology stacks, their integration points (CMS, PIM, CRM, analytics), and customer data flows
  • Broad knowledge of digital performance levers — acquisition, retention, SEO/SEM, CRM, and A/B testing
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills; capable of influencing at multiple levels
  • Analytical and commercially minded; able to connect data-driven insights with strategic decision-making
  • Entrepreneurial and curious, comfortable navigating ambiguity and building new processes in a corporate environment
  • High degree of accountability and ownership – able to own topics end-to-end, make decisions within scope, and deliver results independently in a dynamic environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Commerce, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing e-commerce or digital business transformation (experience in online optical retail a plus)
  • Proven track record in e-commerce strategy design and operational leadership
  • Experience with international rollouts and omnichannel strategies
  • Comfortable working in fast-changing, ambiguous settings and taking ownership to move topics forward
  • Proven track record in successfully managing multi-workstream initiatives or roadmap-related programs in a retail or B2B2C context
  • Fluent in English; German is an advantage
