We are seeking an experienced and reliable Senior Driver to join our team. This role is based in Feilding and will provide operational support across the region, including Dannevirke when
required

Smart Environmental Ltd works on behalf of local councils, businesses, and communities providing rubbish and recycling collections. Acquired by Blue Planet and with a large fleet of collection vehicles and line haul operations, our mission is to divert waste from landfill.

About the Role:

The Senior Driver plays a key role in ensuring service continuity by covering driver absences and supporting the wider driving team when needed.

This hands-on 40 hour per week permanent role, working Monday through to Friday, will keep you active throughout the day and offers a great team environment, stable hours, and the chance to make a positive impact in your local community.

Key responsibilities:


  • Operate a range of waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently, including: LEV (Low Entry Vehicle), Rear Loader, Side Lifter, FEL (Front End Loader) and Hook Truck
  • Provide cover for drivers who are on annual leave, sick leave, or other absences.
  • Support drivers with operational requirements when required
  • Ensure all collections and services are completed safely and on schedule
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Complete required documentation and follow company procedures.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with customers and the public.

About you:

  • Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to confidently operate LEV, Rear Loader, Side Lifter, FEL, and Hook Truck.
  • Current and valid Class 4 or Class 5 driver licence.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to different routes and vehicles.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and support other drivers when needed.
