Job Description

A Senior Drainage Engineer is needed for immediate hire in Austin, TX. Qualified candidates should have a proven career in water resources engineering specific to Central Texas municipalities, including the City of Austin and other local agencies. This role involves leading a Water Resources team and utilizing technical skills for planning, analysis, and design of projects for municipalities across Central Texas, including San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage technical work and projects for stormwater and watershed management, stream restoration, and roadway drainage design.
• Establish project sequencing, create the project WBS system, and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring both technical and financial success.
• Coordinate multiple projects concurrently, working effectively with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, and staff.
• Oversee water quality controls, flood mitigation, regional ponds, and Municipal and County applications.
• Train and lead engineers and technical staff to meet project goals on time and within budget.
• Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and permits for preliminary and final designs.
• Coordinate design drawings with the CAD team.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to pursue opportunities, prepare proposals, and develop marketing materials.
• Work with the financial team on fee proposals, project forecasting, reporting, and invoicing.
• Conduct regular project update meetings with team members.
• Convey work product and project results effectively in technical documents, interviews, and presentations.
• Travel lightly, mostly between Austin and San Antonio, for project needs.

Required Qualifications:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of modeling and drainage design experience (or 8 years with an M.S.).
• Licensed PE in Texas for 3+ years.
• Demonstrated leadership experience as a design engineering lead or project manager.
• Experience in designing and constructing storm drain improvement systems, stormwater treatment facilities, and solving flood, erosion, and water quality issues.
• Proficiency with 1D and 2D computer models, FEMA Flood Insurance Mapping process, Microstation, Openroads Drainage, GEOPAK Drainage, and Storm and Sanitary.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete projects successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Local project experience with City of Austin, Travis County, Bexar County, City of San Antonio, SAWS, San Antonio River Authority, and surrounding municipalities or agencies.
• TxDOT Pre-certifications.
