About the Role:

The Senior Director, Field Medical Excellence will drive the strategic and operational excellence of BioNTech's Field Medical Team, ensuring they are optimally equipped to deliver high-impact scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs). This role will focus on field medical operations, oncology launch readiness, capability building, insights management, and VEEVA CRM optimization and digital enablement to strengthen BioNTech's engagement in the oncology community.

The ideal candidate brings deep oncology expertise, a track record in MSL excellence, and fluency in Veeva CRM and Insights, ensuring a data-driven approach to MSL strategy and execution.

Your Contribution:

MSL Field Medical Excellence & Oncology Launch Readiness

• Lead the development and execution of MSL strategic frameworks to optimize scientific engagement and ensure alignment with BioNTech's oncology pipeline priorities.
• Establish and oversee the operational infrastructure for oncology launch readiness, including field medical processes, CRM optimization, insights generation, performance metrics, and readiness reporting.
• Establish field medical KPls and performance metrics to measure scientific impact, engagement quality, and insights contribution.
• Drive continuous improvement in MSL effectiveness, training, and engagement strategies, ensuring best-in-class scientific exchange.
• Support the development and optimization of the BioNTech strategy for oncology scientific/medical congresses.

Operational Leadership & Process Optimization

• Enhance MSL operational efficiencies through streamlined workflows, engagement tracking, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for field medical activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Partner with BioNTech's Digital & Data Science teams to integrate Al-driven analytics, real-time insights tracking, and predictive modeling into field medical operations.

Veeva CRM & Insights Leadership

• Act as BioNTech's subject matter expert (SME) for Veeva CRM and Insights, optimizing its use for medical engagement tracking, insights collection, and data-driven decision-making.
• Oversee the development of customized dashboards and analytics tools to enhance field medical reporting, impact measurement, and strategic planning.
• Implement best practices for medical insights gathering, synthesis, and utilization, ensuring insights from MSL teams drive key decisions in Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial Strategy.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Medical Communications, Market Access, and Commercial teams to align field medical strategy with broader organizational objectives.
• Work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies.
• Lead MSL field engagement strategy discussions, ensuring alignment with BioNTech's mission to advance oncology innovation.

A Good Match:

Education & Experience

• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a scientific or medical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, with a strong background in oncology and immunotherapy.
• Demonstrated leadership in MSL excellence, field medical operations, or medical insights management.
• Experience supporting oncology product launches and driving MSL effectiveness strategies.
• Extensive experience in developing and delivering training programs for MSLs.

Technical & Functional Expertise

• Deep expertise in Veeva CRM & Insights, including workflow optimization, data analytics, and medical engagement tracking.
• Strong operational and strategic acumen, with a focus on data-driven decision-making in field medical affairs.
• Familiarity with digital tools, Al-driven analytics, and emerging technologies that enhance MSL performance and insights management.
• Deep understanding of oncology therapeutic landscapes, clinical development processes, and scientific exchange best practices.

Your benefits and remuneration:

Expected Pay Range: 198,300/year to 318,300/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
