WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

Embedded within the Strategic Operations, Global Support & Enablement organization, this role provides focused leadership for strategic programs that span organizational boundaries, partnering closely with leaders across AI & Agentic Engineering, Data & BI Platforms, Product, Architecture, and Business functions.

The Strategic Initiatives Lead excels in situations where the path forward is unclear. They create clarity from ambiguity, align diverse stakeholders around a common vision, and transform complex ideas into executable plans that deliver measurable business outcomes. Acting as a trusted advisor, orchestrator, and execution leader, they help accelerate decision making, remove barriers, and ensure strategic initiatives achieve their intended impact.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

Strategic Initiatives Leads operate as a horizontal leadership capability within the Strategic Operations, Global Support & Enablement organization. While aligned to a common operating model and community of practice, each lead is dedicated to one or more executive priorities and serves as a trusted partner to senior leaders responsible for delivering transformative business outcomes.

These leaders bring together strategy, execution, technology, and organizational change to ensure complex cross-functional initiatives move from vision to value realization.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

Lead Strategic ELT Priorities from Concept to Value Realization

  • Provide end-to-end leadership for high-priority executive initiatives, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, governance structures, and successful delivery.

  • Partner with executive sponsors to define vision, scope, success measures, risks, dependencies, and organizational readiness activities that enable effective execution.

Drive Cross-Functional Alignment and Execution

  • Act as the connective tissue across business, engineering, product, operations, data, and platform teams.

  • Facilitate decision making, resolve competing priorities, manage dependencies, and create alignment across stakeholders to accelerate delivery and business impact.

Partner with AI & Agentic Engineering Leadership

  • Work closely with the VP of AI & Agentic Engineering to identify opportunities where AI, agentic systems, automation, and advanced engineering capabilities can transform business processes and accelerate value creation.

  • Translate emerging technology opportunities into executable programs aligned with enterprise priorities and adoption strategies.

Partner with Data & BI Platforms Leadership

  • Collaborate with the VP of Data & BI Platforms to ensure strategic initiatives are built on scalable, secure, and sustainable data foundations.

  • Drive alignment across platform modernization, data capabilities, analytics, governance, and business adoption efforts.

Incubate Strategic Capabilities and New Ways of Working

  • Support the development and launch of new AI, data, and digital capabilities from concept through early adoption.

  • Establish the conditions for success by aligning stakeholders, assessing feasibility, defining operating models, and creating execution frameworks that enable scale.

Enable Executive Decision Making

  • Create compelling narratives, executive communications, governance materials, and performance insights that support informed decision making.

  • Provide visibility into progress, risks, dependencies, opportunities, and value realization across strategic initiatives.

Strengthen Organizational Capability

  • Establish repeatable practices, tools, and operating models that improve the organization's ability to execute transformational initiatives.

  • Share lessons learned, mentor teams, and promote modern approaches that increase organizational effectiveness and agility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 12+ years of experience.

  • 15+ years of product management or product development experience; pharmaceutical or healthcare experience a strong plus.

  • Significant experience in a high-growth environment, taking products from inception to launch and building an effective product team.

  • Experience with agile/lean and cloud-native development, big data and analytics.

  • Experience scaling products, overseeing their build from MVP to mass scale.

  • Experience in managing a cross-functional team in the healthcare industry.

  • A demonstrated business acumen and history of accountability and performance delivery, leading teams to meet or exceed objectives.

  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision making.

  • Familiarity with common project management tools for sprint planning, roadmaps, and analytics, etc.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit. Ability to operate and quickly respond to emerging needs.

  • Strong product mindset: Ability to quickly research, design, build and launch digital products to meet company and market needs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to influence key partners and stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree with at least 10+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 7+ years of experience; OR a MD with 5+ years of experience.

  • Additional consideration will be given to individuals who, in addition to the above, have regulated medical device or digital healthcare industry, or related experience.

  • Advanced degree (design or engineering), or equivalent experience, a plus.

  • Proficient knowledge of JIRA and Microsoft Office Suite tools preferred.

  • Ai Fluent.

  • Claude Gemini CoPilot.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) a plus.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel may be required as part of this role. Expectations around travel will vary but candidates must be capable of travel within the region, to other regions, and to Pfizer World Headquarters.

  • Pfizer Digital is a 7x24x365 endeavor. This role may require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours
