The Opportunity

Monash University is seeking an accomplished executive leader to step into the role of Senior Director, Research Security, Ethics and Integrity Reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), this highly strategic role leads our institutional framework across research security, integrity and governance, as well as defence and sovereign capability, and associated national security and compliance obligations. Operating at the intersection of academic excellence, research security and integrity governance, you will oversee the Office of Research Ethics and Integrity and provide institutional leadership on emerging geopolitical, regulatory and national security risks impacting the University’s research activities and champion a positive and enabling research integrity and security culture across Monash University.

The successful candidate will bring extensive executive leadership experience from research governance, research integrity, research security, compliance, national security, defence, higher education or related sectors. You will possess a deep understanding of Australian and international research integrity, regulatory compliance frameworks and emerging geopolitical risks. An exceptional communicator and negotiator, you will excel at operating in complex and sensitive landscapes, with the ability to influence, build consensus and foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be required to complete defence-related workforce screening in accordance with AS 4811:2022, and may be required to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance under the relevant grant conditions.
