A Day in the Life

The Senior Director, Remote Sales Solutions will lead the full transformation and operational leadership of Medtronic’s Remote Sales organization. This role is pivotal in transitioning the current regional‑based remote sales teams into a centralized solid‑line structure under the Strategic Accounts Accelerator

The leader will oversee a multi‑layered team structure—including Remote Sales Managers (country or cluster leaders) and their teams of Remote Sales Representatives—who manage Small and Extra‑Small (SX/S) accounts and drive remote commercial execution, prospecting, and customer acquisition.

With direct responsibility for revenue, this role will shape the strategic direction, operating model, and performance culture of the Remote Sales organization. A strong transformation mindset, ability to challenge the status quo, and deep leadership capability are essential.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

1. Strategic & Transformation Leadership

  • Lead the transition from regional dotted-line management to a centralized solid-line reporting model, ensuring clarity, capability building, and change adoption.
  • Define and execute the Remote Sales strategy aligned to the Strategic Accounts Accelerator’s priorities.
  • Act as a transformation leader, challenging existing processes and enabling new ways of working through data, digital tools, and commercial innovation.

2. Remote Sales Leadership & Revenue Management

  • Oversee remote sales performance across multiple geographies, representing a revenue responsibility
  • Establish commercial execution standards for prospecting, pipeline management, lead conversion, and customer lifecycle management for Small and Extra‑Small accounts.
  • Drive improvements in sales efficiency, productivity, targeting models, and execution frameworks.

3. Organizational Leadership & People Management

  • Lead a multi‑country team structure:
    • Remote Sales Managers (country/cluster leads)
    • Remote Sales Representatives
  • Build a high‑performance culture with strong coaching, capability development, and talent management.
  • Ensure alignment of roles, responsibilities, KPIs, and career pathways across all markets.

4. Customer & Market Focus

  • Ensure the remote channel delivers a consistent, high‑quality customer experience.
  • Drive adoption of remote-first commercial strategies that accelerate access, coverage, and decision‑maker engagement.
  • Integrate therapy knowledge (ACM/CDN/PVH/Surgical) into capability building for teams.

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Strategic Accounts, Regional Leadership, Marketing, Digital, Finance, and Operations to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Collaborate on digital roadmap enhancements (CRM, analytics, segmentation, call planning tools) to strengthen remote sales excellence.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador of the Strategic Accounts Accelerator, reinforcing alignment across the organization.

6. Operational Excellence & Governance

  • Define KPIs, dashboards, and performance governance for all remote sales tiers.
  • Ensure compliance with Medtronic policies and local regulations.
  • Optimize resource allocation and coverage models to maximize revenue potential.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related area.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive commercial/sales leadership experience.
  • 5–10 years at senior leadership level managing multi‑country organizations.
  • Proven experience driving large‑scale commercial transformation
  • Track record in remote/inside sales, digital sales models, or centralized sales operations
  • Strong background in one or more of the following therapies preferred: ACM, CRDN, PVH, Surgical

  • Proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics, remote engagement tools, and digital workflows.
