About KIPP NYC:
Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful, academically excellent schools where every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities.
From our first middle school, KIPP Academy in the Bronx, to today’s network of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, and one high school, KIPP NYC provides students with engaging academics, arts, athletics, and social–emotional learning that prepare them for college, career, and beyond.
Our commitment doesn’t end at graduation. Through KIPP Forward, we continue to support our alumni as they navigate college, career, and life, helping them define success on their own terms and pursue the paths that align with their goals and sense of purpose.
Together, we serve more than 9,400 students, support 4,700 alumni, and employ over 1,100 dedicated team members who bring passion, expertise, and commitment to our mission every day.
About the Executive Office
Led by the Chief of Staff, KIPP NYC's Executive Office is a newly established function that is designed to scale leadership bandwidth and ensure seamless cross-functional alignment. Members of the Executive Office team operate both as project managers, stewarding distinct portfolios of evergreen work, while remaining ready to step into cross-functional initiatives where project management rigor and leadership capacity are needed
KIPP NYC is seeking three dynamic leaders to support this work:
If you are a skilled operator who thinks at the enterprise level, and is energized by both the planning and the execution of great work, this team may be for you!
KIPP NYC has a bold organizational vision that requires disciplined project management, strong operational leadership, and the ability to create clarity, alignment, and momentum across competing priorities. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Senior Director, Project Management and Office Operations (PMOO) plays a dual role in support of these objectives: leading a critical body of evergreen work (60%) and operating as part of an organization-wide project management office function (40%).
Evergreen work: The PMOO is responsible for designing and stewarding complex operational initiatives related to workplace operations, knowledge management, and culture. This leader builds the systems and practices that reduce friction and support the day-to-day effectiveness of the Shared Services Team (SST) office. Success in this role requires someone who can bring structure to ambiguity, think systemically about how organizations function, and confidently manage multiple complex workstreams.
The PMOO manages one direct report, the Office Coordinator. This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum of three in-person days per week based out of our KIPP NYC Midtown Manhattan office. The role may also include travel to KIPP NYC campuses across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. The cadence and frequency of school visits will be determined by your leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Infrastructure & Workplace Environment
The SST office serves as both an operational hub and a central convening space for KIPP NYC. The PMOO is responsible for ensuring that the environment functions as a highly effective workplace for staff, and as a welcoming space for meetings and larger convenings. Specifically,
Knowledge Management
As organizations grow, institutional knowledge can easily become siloed or dependent on individual people rather than sustainable systems. The PMOO will play a critical role in strengthening the operational infrastructure that allows KIPP NYC to maintain continuity during periods of growth or transition. Specifically,
Operational Culture
Strong cultures are built intentionally through the environments and shared experiences that shape how people work together. The PMOO will play an important role in fostering a workplace culture that reflects KIPP NYC’s values while supporting accountability and a strong sense of shared purpose across the SST office. Specifically,
Leadership & Team Effectiveness
As a founding member of the EO, the PMOO will play a significant role in shaping how the team collaborates and supports the organization. The PMOO must build a strong, high-functioning partnership with the Office Coordinator, creating the coaching and accountability that allow them to thrive. In addition, the PMOO directs the efforts of a 9+ person culture committee with representatives from each team across the SST. Specifically,
