We’re passionate about delivering on Our Promise to improve the lives of patients and create healthier communities for all. We foster a culture of inclusivity, integrity and creativity while boldly pursuing answers to the world’s most complex health challenges and transforming society.

The Position

Genentech is establishing a strategically focused Workplace Delivery Team responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of all workplace solutions for the South San Francisco campus and key satellite sites. We are seeking a visionary, enterprise‑minded senior leader to lead Project Management within Workplace Delivery.

The Opportunity

In this pivotal role, you will be accountable for setting the vision, strategy, and execution standards for Genentech’s Workplace Delivery project management organization. You’ll lead a large team of project managers and project leaders (employees and contingent workforce) accountable for planning and delivering approximately 150 active capital projects across the South San Francisco campus and related sites. This diverse portfolio encompasses commercial offices, research laboratories, cGMP-certified manufacturing, sustainability initiatives, and site infrastructure.

You will be accountable for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of the portfolio, while simultaneously developing project management talent, strengthening organizational capabilities, and aligning outcomes with Site Services, Workplace Delivery strategies, and the broader Roche/Genentech Pharma Vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear strategic direction and enterprise-level leadership for a large, diverse project management organization, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance.

  • Hold end-to-end accountability for the successful delivery of the entire capital project portfolio—ensuring adherence to scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance requirements.

  • Serve as Chair or key member of governance bodies such as the Project Review Committee, Capital Governance Committees, and Large Project Forums, driving high-quality, timely decisions on project initiation, funding, and prioritization.

  • Promote and role-model a strong safety culture in partnership with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), establishing expectations and behaviors across the project management team that target zero OSHA recordable incidents and minimal disruption to business-critical facilities.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key external partners (e.g., City of South San Francisco, PG&E, alliance partners, consultants, contractors) to support efficient permitting, issue resolution, and escalation management.

  • Ensure that all projects comply with Roche directives, local building codes, fire protection regulations, procurement guidelines, Technical Standards, EHS policies, and sustainability principles and practices (e.g., LEED certification).

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering (Civil, Structural, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical), or Construction Management is required.

  • Graduate degree in Business, Architecture, Planning, Engineering, or Construction Management is desirable.

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in project and program management, including 5+ years in senior project management roles leading complex capital projects.

  • Demonstrated success in real estate development, campus/urban planning, capital program development and implementation, and construction management.

  • Proven track record in delivering complex design and construction projects; greenfield development experience required and lab/research project experience strongly recommended.

  • Experience programming and executing projects on large, complex, and active campus environments.

  • Experience in Facilities Operations, Engineering, Planning, or related fields is desirable
