Senior Director, Process Engineering, Automation & Technical Systems – Europe

We’relooking for an experienced and influential engineering and automation leader to shape CHEP’s technical strategy across our European Supply Chain. This is ahigh impactrole responsible for driving the transition from manual operations to the Plant of the Future, delivering tangible improvements in safety, reliability (MTBF),cost,and performance at scale.

You’llpartner closely with the SVP Supply Chain Europe and senior operationalleaders andlead the annual CAPEX portfolio for a highly skilled engineeringorganisationacross multiple countries and plant types.

WhatYou’llLead & Deliver

  • Lead Process Engineering, Automation and Technical Systems across CHEP Europe, acting as the most senior technical leader in the region.
  • Define and execute Europe’s automation and Plant of the Future roadmap, translating strategy into a deliverable portfolio ofprogrammes
  • Own theend-to-enddelivery of capital and automation projects, from businesscasesthrough installation,startupand handover.
  • Drive equipment reliability, MTBF and maintenance effectiveness, embedding standard practices and performance metrics across the network.
  • Champion a Zero Harm culture, ensuring all engineering and automation initiatives meet the highest safety and compliance standards.
  • Build technical capability through upskilling, talentdevelopmentand apprenticeshipprogrammes
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, Quality and Health & Safety leaders to deliver productivity andcost outinitiatives.
  • Lead key relationships with automation suppliers and engineering service providers, while supporting globalstandardisationefforts.

WhatYou’llBring

  • Senior leadership experience in Process Engineering, Automation or Technical Operations in industrial, manufacturing or supply chain environments.

  • Proven delivery of largescale automation and capitalprogrammesacross multisite networks.

  • Strong background in reliability engineering and operational performance improvement.

  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders in matrixed, internationalorganisations

  • Commercial, pragmatic mindset with strong capital governance and financial discipline.

  • Clear communicator,change-readyleaderand visiblechampionofZero Harm.

Qualifications

  • Essential:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial,Structuralor related Engineering discipline.

  • Desirable: MBA or equivalent experience; Lean / Six Sigma certification.

  • Languages: English essential;additionalEuropean language desirable.
