General Summary:

Vertex is seeking a talented leader to join our US Kidney Business Unit to support our aspirations of bringingPovetaciceptandInaxaplin, Phase 3 investigational therapies that have the potential to transform lives across multiple serious diseases, to patients. 

The Senior Director, Patient Support Lead will be key to creating the necessary processes, systems, infrastructure, and operations for the Patient Support organization within the US Kidney Business Unit. They willdevelop the launch strategy,define theappropriate patientsupport model, recruit and develop a high-performing patient supportteamand ensure execution of launch activities.  This role is a second line leadertoPS Operations, Communications, CareManagementand Field Reimbursement.We are seeking a candidate that has a strongtrack recordin US patient support and operations roles,demonstratedsuccess in leading high performing teams, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment. 

This role is a key member of the US Kidney Business Unit leadership team and is based out of Boston, MA, HQ in the Seaport District.Must live and/or be able torelocateto Boston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setsstrategicvision forKidney Patient Support, includingPatient Support Program design,budget management,annualandlong termplanningand cross-functional integration

  • Leads Patient Support day-to-day operational aspects, including key activities & programs that drive performance against access, patientlogistics, and service goals

  • Drives launch readiness for both assets.

  • Manages operations project portfolio with a focus on initiatives that drive operational effectiveness and enhance the patient experience

  • Driveflawless execution of our operational plans, through ensuring the team is clear on priorities, effective cross functional partnerships, and thoughtful training & implementation plans

  • Driving continuous improvementand innovation, alwaysmaintainingan external focus 

  • Hire, developand coach functional team leads to achieve exceptional performance 

  • Retains, develops, and engages top talent 

  • Serve as a core member of the Patient Support Leadership Team,representingoperations perspective and engaging “above” role to improve our effectiveness in theUS,i.e.can think at a broader level than one’s own function

  • Coordinates closely with cross functional colleagues, ensuring a culture of collaboration and receptivity to feedback

  • Role models and instills a culture of compliance focused on ethics and integrity in all we do 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 12 years+ work experience in healthcare/pharmaceuticals, 5 years in leading teams

  • Additionalpreferred experiences: 

  • Specialty product launch experience

  • Work within highly competitive markets

  • Nephrologyexperience

  • Expertisein patient support, patient education, market access, or marketing

  • Track recordof proven ability to motivate, coach & inspire a team towards cleargoalsand hold accountable for results

Pay Range:

$216,000 - $324,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
