ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NP Digital (NPD) is seeking a Senior Director, Paid Search to help grow our Paid Media team while serving as a trusted resource for our prospective and existing clients. Reporting to the VP, Paid Media, the ideal candidate for this role is someone who has experience building and leading paid search and shopping strategies at a digital marketing agency, including seamless handoff to Paid Search Managers and Specialists that will be focused on implementing the strategy through execution.

Candidates should have outstanding knowledge of Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. They know how to structure campaigns to optimize performance based on each search platform’s ad auction algorithms and best practices. Equally important to technical paid search experience is the ability to communicate recommendations and analysis of performance to clients and colleagues alike. You earn the trust of CMOs and CEOs by showing them thoughtful insights, compelling strategies, and clever uses of paid search and shopping to drive meaningful impact to their business.

The Senior Director, Paid Search will be an individual contributor focused on driving new revenue and overseeing a book of business. You’ll get plenty of opportunities to pitch Fortune 1000 brands and will work closely with our other paid media team members to guide their thinking and ultimately help develop their skill sets. You’ll also partner with Client Services & Sales to spot opportunities for us to expand our client relationships. The ideal candidate has the entrepreneurial spirit to build things, move fast, and get things done.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own paid search, shopping, and Performance Max strategy across NP Digital’s clients
  • Coordinate with other paid media Directors or Strategists in overarching paid media strategy development
  • Supervise client budgets, QA budgets managed by all Associate Directors, Managers and Specialists, oversee budget shifts & pacing, and align with paid media leadership
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise to external and internal stakeholders
  • Lead paid search team meetings and may attend internal or external client meetings
  • Educate team on paid search, shopping, and PMax setup best practices as well as inform team of new creative best practices, placements, or platform updates
  • Review all reporting and insights for assigned accounts and may assign tasks to Associate Directors, Managers, or Specialists aligning with their responsibilities
  • Own relationships with Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and SA360 agency representatives
  • Oversee testing roadmaps and implementation across paid search clients
  • As needed, plan, manage, and execute integrated Digital Media campaigns, including but not limited to account setup, strategy development, organization, and management
  • Directly manage paid search Associate Directors
  • Provide mentorship, structured assistance, instruction, and inspiration to the team
  • Participate in agency thought-leadership deliverables, such as blogs, white papers, social posts, or webinars
  • Share paid search industry news and trends with department and/or agency and develop POVs on paid search topics
  • Create new department processes and use automation and AI to improve efficiency of tasks
  • Contribute to training documentation and presentations specific to NPD's media philosophy and processes within Paid Search
  • Develop Paid Search, Shopping, or PMax case studies or award submission stories
  • Play an active role in pitches for renewals, upsells, and new accounts for clients where a higher-level of subject matter expertise is needed

ABOUT YOU

  • 10 or more years of experience in paid search and shopping campaigns
  • 5 or more years of managing direct reports and fostering their career growth
  • Experience leading and growing a team
  • Track record of creating processes and leveraging automation or AI to streamline paid search and shopping tasks
  • Knowledge of paid search automation, AI capabilities, and rules to prevent and catch errors
  • Familiarity with LLM ads, including ChatGPT ads and Google’s AI Mode
  • Ability to translate digital & industry trends into succinct, compelling, conversational language for a variety of C-Suite and Marketing audiences
  • Pays meticulous attention to detail with the ability to catch others’ errors
  • Experienced in Google Marketing Platform, specifically Search Ads 360
  • History of hands-on management of AI Max, Performance Max, and Demand Gen campaigns
  • Excellent and passionate presenter
  • Skilled at advanced Microsoft Excel formulas and developing polished Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Follows and enforces team to abide by Google Ads and Microsoft Ads best practices for campaign structure and creative
  • Has a deep understanding of how search engine algorithms work and impact performance
  • Certified for Google Ads Search via Skillshop at a minimum
  • Ability to discuss attribution and search’s role in the overall media mix

  • Knowledge of other types of campaigns within the search ads platforms, including display, native, and video
  • Experience with SEMrush for competitive insights
  • Additional professional certifications, including Microsoft Ads and SA360
  • Product feed management and experience, including Google Merchant Center
  • Experience working with B2B clients

ABOUT THE COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: USD $140,000.00 to $165,000.00; depending on experience and skills
  • Discretionary annual bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary
