As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will set the technology strategy and execution roadmap for digital channels. You will partner closely with product, design, operations, risk, cybersecurity, architecture, and business leaders to deliver scalable platforms, strengthen operational resiliency, and raise engineering excellence. You will build a culture where teams move fast with strong controls, simplify complex technology estates, and deliver measurable outcomes for customers and the firm.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering organization responsible for payments digital channels, setting strategy, priorities, and a multi-year delivery roadmap
  • Drive platform modernization using cloud-native architecture, micro-frontend patterns, microservices, event-driven design, and well-governed application programming interfaces
  • Own end-to-end engineering delivery for payments digital channels and approval workflows, ensuring strong availability, performance, operational readiness, and production stability
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business outcomes into technology roadmaps, investment plans, and measurable execution milestones
  • Build and develop senior engineering leaders and teams, fostering a culture of inclusion, accountability, continuous improvement, and talent growth
  • Ensure solutions meet firm standards for security, operational resiliency, regulatory compliance, data governance, and technology risk management
  • Influence enterprise architecture and shared capability decisions to enable scalable global growth across lines of business
  • Sets and scales multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) to drive firmwide objectives (speed, scalability, reliability, and cost-to-serve), including portfolio-level standards for AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release governance, automated test modernization, resilience engineering, and incident response acceleration; establishes guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive cross-domain reuse and measurable capacity unlock outcomes across departments.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Demonstrated experience delivering mission-critical, high-volume financial platforms, including payments, transaction processing, workflow orchestration, and distributed systems
  • Extensive experience designing and operating cloud-native applications using microservices, application programming interfaces, event-driven architectures, container platforms such as Kubernetes, and public or private cloud environments
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale modernization initiatives, including legacy transformation, platform engineering, and improvements to developer experience and productivity
  • Strong understanding of non-functional engineering disciplines including scalability, resiliency, performance, observability, disaster recovery, and operational excellence
  • Experience leading teams delivering regulated financial systems with strong knowledge of technology risk, cybersecurity, audit, governance, and regulatory expectations
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes in highly matrixed organizations through effective partnership with product, architecture, operations, risk, cybersecurity, compliance, and business stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience leading multi-organization adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering operating models (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment), including defining governance (human-in-the-loop decisioning, quality gates), measurement frameworks, and secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs across teams.
  • Deep understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, and resiliency/security expectations at scale, with demonstrated ability to advise senior leaders on safe adoption, portfolio governance, and reuse-first strategies.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience modernizing payment initiation platforms at global scale across multiple geographies and regulatory environments
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and large-scale cloud adoption programs
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence to improve engineering productivity and quality across the software development life cycle
