The Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the software engineering team for Ardán and its enterprise applications. This person directly manages a team of 18 engineers, owning their growth, their delivery, and the quality of what they ship. This person spends most of their time developing their engineers, running a healthy delivery process, and partnering with Product and Design to turn priorities into shipped software. This person will stay close to the technology by reviewing designs, weighing in on architecture, and occasionally contributing code; all while keeping the team unblocked and focused.
Essential Functions:
- Directly manage a team of 17 engineers: regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback, performance management, and career growth.
- Own your team's delivery by collaborating with the technical program manager around planning, prioritization, and predictable execution against clear goals.
- Collaborate with the technical program manager to run a healthy day-to-day process: sprint planning, standups, retros, and continuous improvement of how the team works.
- Stay technically engaged by participating in design and code reviews, guide architectural decisions, and help unblock hard problems. Contribute code where it adds the most value (typically ~15-30% of your time).
- Partner closely with Product and Design to scope work, sequence the roadmap, and balance speed against quality and maintainability.
- Contribute to and maintain a healthy team culture grounded in ownership and continuous improvement.
- Manage operational health of your systems: reliability, on-call, incident response, and technical debt, and collaborate with executive leadership to advocate for the investments needed to keep them strong.
- Collaborate with peer engineering leaders to improve cross-team processes, hiring, and standards across the broader enterprise.
- Communicate clearly with your team, your manager, and cross-functional partners.
Competencies:
- Hands-on engineering experience and current enough technical depth to earn your team's trust in design and code reviews. This includes experience with .NET (.NET Framework and newer versions of .NET), TypeScript and related stacks (like Angular, React, Vue), visual styling tools (like CSS, Tailwind) and standards (like Material Design), relational and document database management systems (like MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- A track record of shipping quality software with a team and improving how that team works.
- Strong people skills: coaching, giving feedback, and growing engineers at different levels.
- Ability to partner effectively with Product and Design and to communicate clearly across audiences.
- Experience in title insurance, mortgage industry, or real estate / property technology is a strong plus.
Education and/or skills:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years in software engineering, including 1-2+ years directly managing engineers.
Physical Demands
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop or bend for an extended period (8 hours).
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to listen and speak clearly over the phone
Work Environment:
