Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, a global leader in intellectual property law, is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources to lead firmwide HR strategy and operations across attorneys and business services. This role focuses on ensuring HR programs are executed with consistency, compliance, and operational rigor to support firm performance and long-term talent sustainability.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior Director will shape and operationalize the firm’s HR operating model, bringing structure, consistency, and discipline to talent management, employee relations, compensation, and HR operations while partnering closely with firm leadership to drive performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

The role in action:

  • Bring structure and discipline to the design and execution of HR programs
  • Translate firm priorities into integrated HR strategies
  • Oversee and optimize performance management and compensation programs
  • Establish and drive HR programs with clear standards, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Lead complex employee relations matters and escalations
  • Use data and insight to guide workforce decisions
  • Lead and evolve the HR Center of Excellence

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Bring significant HR leadership experience in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Have partnered at the enterprise level with senior leadership
  • Demonstrate strong employee relations and judgment
  • Understand how HR operations support business performance
  • Use data to inform talent and compensation decisions
  • Lead with credibility and execution discipline
  • Possess 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience; law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred; advanced degree or HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
