Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing effective and inspiring leadership and holding team members accountable for meeting the expectations of the organization
- Ensuring that each of the organization’s Community Life programs and services operates consistently in alignment with the organization’s mission and values and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations
- Building strong relationships with applicable stakeholders and serving as the organization’s spokesperson, internally and externally, on matters related to Community Life programs and services
- Providing information to the Board of Directors regarding the performance and delivery of Community Life programs and services
- Staying abreast of updates to rules, regulations and requirements, as well as industry best practices, that impact the Community Life programs and services provided by the organization
- Ensuring that admissions, discharges and movements of individuals within Community Life services and programs of the organization are aligned with the organization’s mission and values, as well as applicable funding models and revenue sources
- Creating strategies to enhance the organization’s Community Life programs and services, in alignment with applicable regulations, funding models, contractual obligations and budgetary restraints
- Preparing budgets for each of the Community Life programs and services offered by the organization and ensuring the disciplined management of financial resources throughout Community Life programs and services
- Developing long-term strategic goals for each of the Community Life programs and services offered by the organization
- Fostering a transparent and safe environment for staff to report challenges and ask questions/seek guidance
- Meet all requirements and serve as the lead DDP/Agency Director for the Community Life programs and services delivered by the organization, to include:
- - Overseeing the services and supports provided to individual for general guidance to the provider agency in areas of compliance and quality improvement;
- - Assuring that the supports provided are within the scope of the agency’s service enrollment and experience to ensure effective delivery;
- - Assuring that the services address the individual’s needs and adhere to the application of person- centered values, choice and individual’s rights;
- - Providing, arranging or overseeing curricula used in staff training and directed to service delivery in the context of the individual’s goal(s) and objectives;
- - Recommending other needed services/supports or changes to the delivery model using a continuous quality improvement approach;
- - Providing consultation to the provider agency in ISP implementation strategies that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, realistic and time limited in order to meet the needs and personal goal(s) of the individual;
- - Assessing areas of risks either individually or overall risks to persons supported through agency practice, policy or lack of policy or procedures/protocols. Providing risk mitigation strategies to the provider agency;
- - Reviewing that functional assessments are in place to support formulation of the individual’s plan for delivery of all waiver services that include:
- - The Health Risk Screening Tool;
- - The Supports Intensity Scale;
- - Functional Behavioral Evaluation;
- - Others (E.g., Nursing, OT, PT etc.) as needed or required.
- Overseeing high intensity services if applicable that address health and safety risks for the individuals that includes:
- - The implementation and effectiveness of Behavior Support Plans;
- - The implementation and effectiveness of the Individual’s Crisis Plan; and
- - Identifying ongoing supports as needed (medical and /or behavioral) in collaboration with agency staff, staff of other agencies providing supports to the individuals mutually served or other members of the healthcare team.
- Ensuring that all DDPs who are employed within the organization’s Community Life team meet the responsibilities and expectations of the DDP role
- Ensuring that training delivered by the organization for Community Life team members satisfies not only all regulatory requirements but supports continuous improvement and is aligned with the mission and goals of the organization
- Partnering with the CFO to ensure that the organization meets all fiduciary responsibilities regarding the management of individual funds and organizational resources (e.g., credit cards, vehicles and properties)

QualificationsEducation, Certifications & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for an advanced degree in a health or human services field
- Current certification from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to serve as a DDP, as well as certified in first aid and CPR.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license.  Current personal automobile liability insurance.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience supervising direct reports in an organization of at least 30 personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has leadership responsibilities over all Community Life programs and services provided by the organization, which includes supervisory responsibility over several direct reports, including Day Program and Employability Managers, Family Support Coordinators and CLS Coordinators.  The Sr. Director of Community Life is expected to meet on a 1-1 basis with each of his or her direct reports at least three times a month and to conduct monthly meetings with all managers, directors and coordinators who provide Community Life services for purposes of providing guidance and sharing information.  The Sr. Director of Community Life is also expected to conduct frequent site visits to locations/facilities managed by his or her direct reports.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Moderate noise level typical of office or program setting.
- Typical physical requirements including moving personal belongings, light equipment, materials to and from meeting locations, etc.

Travel Required
This position will require frequent travel to locations across Metropolitan Atlanta.
