Job Description

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The Senior Territory Retail Director, Germany, Austria, Switzerland (AGS) will lead the territory retail field leadership agenda across the AGS marketplace. The role will work closely with Retail Directors, Store Operations & Training leadership, field teams and cross-functional partners to translate EMEA and global priorities into territory plans, partnerships and execution. The role will report into the Senior Director, Retail Stores EMEA and act as an important connection point between the AGS marketplace and EHQ.

The role will actively partner with the Retail Stores EMEA leadership team, Nike marketplace leaders, and functional partners across Retail Operations & Services, Business Offense, Planning, Supply Chain, Store Development, Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, HR and Labour Relations where relevant.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced retail leader who can translate strategy into clear marketplace plans, build effective partnerships, and lead through a lean and complex multi-country environment. This leader should bring strong commercial judgement, consumer orientation, operational discipline and the ability to inspire teams through ambiguity and change.

The successful candidate does not need to fit one narrow route to readiness. We are looking for evidence of transferable scale, sound judgement, leadership maturity and the ability to learn and adapt quickly within the AGS marketplace. Experience of the AGS market and consumer, or clear evidence of working successfully across comparable multi-market retail environments, will be important.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Business and marketplace leadership

  • Define and resolve complex business issues brought forward by field teams, using sound judgement, data and stakeholder input.

  • Translate global and EMEA strategies into territory plans that are relevant for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

  • Champion implementation of innovative solutions to complex retail, marketplace and operational challenges.

  • Use market, consumer, financial and operational insights to optimise business results and improve quality of decision-making.

Integrated marketplace development

  • Build and influence an integrated marketplace strategy that connects physical stores and digital, clarifies channel roles and unlocks consumer-led growth opportunities.

  • Partner with marketplace, channel and functional leaders to ensure plans are connected across seasonal priorities, store execution and consumer moments.

  • Elevate emerging consumer trends, opportunities and risks from the AGS marketplace to inform EMEA and global thinking.

Financial performance and planning influence

  • Provide financial oversight within the role area of influence, identifying opportunities for efficiency, investment choices and sustainable performance improvement.

  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to support profitability, forecast delivery, labour decisions and cost discipline where direct accountability may be shared.

  • Use qualitative and quantitative inputs to support balanced judgement, especially where market context is nuanced or emerging.

Talent and culture

  • Coach and develop direct reports and senior field leaders, building capability against Nike leadership expectations.

  • Create an environment where field leaders feel supported, challenged and accountable for performance, team health and development.

  • Lead succession planning, segmentation and talent development processes in line with Nike expectations.

Operational excellence

  • Champion EMEA operational excellence initiatives and support consistent, practical implementation across the territory.

  • Ensure operational KPIs, store standards, service, selling, shrink, loss prevention and operational health are managed with discipline.

  • Partner with Store Operations & Training and Retail Directors to maintain operational and service excellence.

Brand, service and selling

  • Maintain Nike brand standards across stores and ensure execution reflects the brand vision and values.

  • Champion service and selling culture, ensuring field leadership has the capability and resources to deliver against expectations.

  • Connect consumer insight and store experience to improve the quality and consistency of marketplace execution.

EXPERIENCE, FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience leading a multi-unit retail business or comparable commercial field organisation, with strong understanding of retail business levers and how to deliver results.

  • Ability to translate enterprise, regional or marketplace strategy into clear territory priorities, partnerships and measurable action plans.

  • Experience of the AGS market and consumer, or clear ability to understand and lead across comparable multi-market consumer and retail environments.

  • Strong consumer orientation with the ability to use consumer insight, market data and competitive context to shape business choices.

  • Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop teams in a lean, matrixed and fast-moving organisation.

  • Experience influencing financial outcomes through revenue growth, profitability, labour, cost, forecasting, investment choices or operational efficiency, including situations where direct P&L ownership is shared or indirect.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational excellence across stores, including service, selling, store standards, labour, shrink, operational health and implementation discipline.

  • Ability to build trusted partnerships with cross-functional teams including Planning, Supply Chain, Business Offense, Retail Operations, Marketing, Finance, People Solutions and local marketplace stakeholders.

  • Proven change leadership capability, including the ability to create clarity, maintain momentum and support teams through uncertainty.

  • Strong talent leadership capability, including coaching, succession planning, leadership development and performance management.

  • Exceptional communication and business storytelling skills, with the ability to influence different levels of the organisation through clear narrative, data and sound judgement.

  • Comfort operating in English-led regional and global forums, with the cultural curiosity and local sensitivity needed to lead effectively across Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

  • Proficient use of core business tools and retail applications; ability to use data and insight to support decision-making.
