General Summary
Serves as a senior leader reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for advancing the execution of key operational, financial and strategic initiatives across the Information system. Partners with IS teams, finance leaders, supply chain leaders, project managers and external vendors to ensure priority initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals. Provides structure, accountability, business insights, and integration for cross-functional initiatives that strengthen overall patient care delivery, optimize resources, meet financial targets, and advance IS performance goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Change Leadership & Communication
- Serves as a trusted advisor to the CIO, helping drive clarity and alignment across the leadership team.
- Represents the CIO in various financial and operational forums, holding accountability and ownership across project workstreams.
- Develops transparent communication and reporting structures to ensure performance excellence initiatives are achieving key milestones, eliminating barriers to success, and adherence to financial goals.
- Fosters engagement and accountability across teams, elevating to senior management barriers that require direct involvement from the Chief Information Officer or other members of the executive leadership team to ensure adherence to project plan. ◦ Ensures the confidentiality of all strategic projects, initiatives, and endeavors.
Strategic Business Rhythm Execution
- Designs and facilitates an effective IS business rhythm that ensures delivery of strategic initiatives, operational health, financial performance, third party vendor and contractual performance in partnership with key stakeholders. Has accountability for the implementation and monitoring of high-priority business excellence initiatives on behalf of the CIO.
- Translates organizational strategies and engages IS teams and other accountable parties to build and execute workplans with clear milestones and deliverables.
- Ensures teams are integrating projects across departments and avoids duplication of effort.
- Ensures financial goals for annual budget and monthly operational metrics are achieved and are well communicated and aligned as a target for IS teams. ◦ Executes problem identification, data gathering and analysis, and implementation of strategic actions that align with clinical and financial goals.
Operational Alignment
- Partners with IS service line, finance, supply chain and administrative leaders to advance initiatives that enhance overall efficiency, financial and operational performance.
- Coordinates with existing Performance Improvement/Lean resources to ensure project execution complements, rather than duplicates, their work.
- Identifies interdependencies across initiatives and resolves barriers to progress.
- Supports the SVP/CIO in monitoring key financial and operational metrics to identify opportunities for proactive intervention to develop recovery plans and ensure achievement of targets.
Team Leadership
- Leads a small team of business performance, vendor management, financial management resources setting up priorities, monitoring progress across key goals, career guidance and ongoing coaching/ mentoring.
- Builds technology, skills and analytical capabilities for a disciplined execution of business and financial performance initiatives across IS organization.
Common Expectations:
- Serves as the CIO’s delegate to drive strategic initiatives.
- Ensures that multiple strategic and business performance priorities are being successfully executed and achieves the desired outcomes.
- This position is not responsible for daily operations but rather is responsible for overall POR success through partnership with key IS and non-IS stakeholders and partner teams (e.g., supply chain, HR, finance, etc.).
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree required
- Masters Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
Work Experience:
- 5 years of progressive business performance experience, including direct responsibility for advancing cross-functional initiatives required
