Primary Functions:
The Senior Director of IT Infrastructure is responsible for leading the strategy, design, and global delivery of enterprise IT infrastructure services, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role ensures that infrastructure capabilities: including Azure, Active Directory, Servers, Virtualization, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive, patching/monitoring, identity & access management (IAM), monitoring, and end-user technologies are scalable, resilient, and aligned with business and digital transformation priorities.
As a key member of the IT leadership team, this position partners closely with the CIO to modernize the technology landscape, optimize operations, and enable innovation through reliable, high-performing infrastructure. This role drives the adoption of cloud and automation, establishes global standards, and ensures consistent service delivery across all regions.
The leader is accountable for infrastructure performance, availability, cost efficiency, and resilience, while embedding security and compliance requirements into all environments. This role also builds and leads global teams including leveraging offshore GCC, manages strategic vendor relationships, and ensures that IT infrastructure effectively supports business growth and employee productivity.
Essential Functions:
1. Strategic Leadership & IT Infrastructure Vision
Define and execute the global IT infrastructure strategy aligned with business and CIO priorities
Lead modernization initiatives including cloud transformation, hybrid infrastructure, and digital enablement
Ensure infrastructure supports scalability, performance, and business growth across regions
2. Global Infrastructure Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations of data centers, cloud platforms, networks, and end-user computing
Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all IT infrastructure services
Establish and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics
3. Cloud & Platform Engineering
Lead adoption and optimization of public, private, and hybrid cloud environments
Drive platform standardization, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices
Partner with application teams to enable secure, scalable cloud solutions
4. Network, Workplace & End-User Services
Oversee global network architecture (LAN/WAN, VPN, connectivity, SD-WAN)
Lead end-user computing strategy (devices, collaboration tools, mobility)
Ensure seamless employee digital experience across all locations
5. Infrastructure Security & Resilience
Partner with IT Security to integrate security controls into infrastructure design and operations
Ensure business continuity, disaster recovery (BC/DR), and resilience planning
Lead infrastructure readiness for cyber incidents and system failures
6. Vendor & Managed Services Oversight
Manage relationships with strategic infrastructure vendors and service providers
Oversee outsourcing, managed services, and global service delivery models
Negotiate contracts and ensure cost efficiency and service quality
7. Financial & Asset Management
Own the global infrastructure budget
Optimize costs through cloud economics, asset lifecycle management, and vendor strategy
Drive transparency in IT infrastructure spend and value realization
8. Infrastructure Architecture & Standardization
Establish enterprise standards for computer, storage, networking, and cloud platforms
Drive technology simplification, consolidation, and standardization globally
Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and CIO vision
9. Talent & Organization Leadership
Build and lead a high-performing global infrastructure and operations team
Develop leadership pipelines and technical capabilities
Drive a culture of accountability, service excellence, and innovation
10. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AI ops, automation, edge computing)
Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, automation, and reliability engineering
Lead initiatives to enhance user experience and operational efficiency
11. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with:
CIO & IT leadership on overall IT strategy
Security on infrastructure protection
Applications & digital teams on platform enablement
Business leaders to align infrastructure with operational needs
Requirements:
12–15+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, operations, or enterprise technology
7–10+ years in leadership roles managing global infrastructure teams and services
Proven experience partnering with CIO and senior IT leadership to align infrastructure with business and digital strategy
Deep expertise across cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), data centers, networks, and end-user computing
Demonstrated success leading large-scale infrastructure transformation initiatives (cloud migration, modernization, automation)
Strong experience in global IT operations, including high-availability environments and service delivery models
Expertise in infrastructure architecture, scalability, and performance optimization
Experience driving automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and platform standardization
Solid understanding of IT security, resilience, disaster recovery (BC/DR), and compliance requirements
Proven ability managing global teams (including offshore GCC), global vendors, managed services, and outsourcing models
Experience managing large operating and capital budgets
Strong background working in complex, matrixed global organizations
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Work Environment:
Ability to travel, sit and handle large phone and email volume. This position requires travel 20-25% of the time.
