The Senior Director, Head of China IT serves as the senior technology leader for Structure Therapeutics China Operations. This role partners closely with China leadership, translating business priorities into technology capabilities that accelerate scientific innovation, clinical development, operational excellence, and business growth. Working closely with Global IT leadership, you will ensure enterprise platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital capabilities are successfully deployed, supported, and continuously improved across China while maintaining compliance with global technology standards and local regulatory requirements.

The Role is responsible for leading China IT strategy, infrastructure, service delivery, cybersecurity and local technology operations while ensuring alignment with global standards and local business needs.

Success in this role requires an experienced technology executive who can influence senior leaders, build trusted relationships across scientific, clinical and corporate functions, and effectively balance global governance with local business needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Partnership
    • Partner with China leadership to align technology initiatives with business priorities.
    • Act as the primary IT partner for Discovery Research, Preclinical Development, Clinical Development, and G&A functions to understand evolving scientific needs and translate them into innovative technology solutions.
    • Develop technology roadmaps that improve researcher productivity, accelerate scientific discovery, enhance clinical operations, and enable business growth while aligning with the Company’s global technology strategy.
    • Represent China business needs within Global IT planning and governance, promoting collaboration across China and Global IT organizations while developing a high-performing regional technology team.
    IT Leadership & Operations
    • Lead the China IT organization, including infrastructure, service deck, end-user support and local IT operations.
    • Ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing IT services across China.
    • Drive operational excellence through service management and continuous improvement.
    Technology Strategy
    • Develop and execute the China IT roadmap aligned with global technology strategy.
    • Support the implementation and adoption of enterprise systems and digital solutions.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to improve business performance.
    Cybersecurity & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with global cybersecurity standards and local regulatory requirements.
    • Partner with Global IT on cybersecurity, risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
    • Promote a strong culture of security awareness and compliance.
    Vendor & Financial Management
    • Manage the China IT budget and technology investments.
    • Oversee key vendor relationships and service providers.
    • Ensure effective delivery and value from external partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceutical or life sciences.
  • Experience leading regional IT organizations supporting infrastructure, operations, service delivery and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with business leaders and working within a global matrix organization.
  • Required degree, etc. work experience and skills.

Technology Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity and IT service management.
  • Experience supporting research, laboratory, and/or clinical systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS, enterprise networking and digital workplace technologies.

Leadership Competencies:

  • 15+ years of progressive Information Technology leadership experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
  • 10+ years leading regional or global IT organizations with responsibility for infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, service delivery, and business partnership.
  • Demonstrated success leading IT organizations within highly matrixed global companies.
  • Proven experience developing IT strategy, managing multimillion-dollar budgets, leading organizational transformation, and building high-performing teams.

Language

  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and executive communication skills in both languages.
