Why This Role. Why Acute Care and Monitoring (ACM)

This role offers a unique opportunity to operate at the center of an Operating Unit, partnering directly with the ACM President and leadership team to shape strategy and drive execution at scale. The Senior Director will have broad visibility across the business and the ability to influence priorities, decisions, and outcomes that matter—combining strategic thinking, operational leadership, and people development in one role.

The Senior Director, Global Strategy, Governance & Business Process is a senior leadership role that drives strategic direction, operating effectiveness, and business process excellence across the ACM Operating Unit. Reporting directly to the Operating Unit President, this role serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, ensuring priorities are clearly defined, aligned, and executed with discipline.

This position is also a people leadership role, responsible for leading and developing a small, high‑impact team of business process and strategy experts. The role balances enterprise‑level thinking with hands‑on execution, enabling the ACM organization to operate more effectively while supporting growth and transformation.

This role is based onsite in Lafayette, CO.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Planning

  • Partner with the ACM OU President and leadership team to shape and evolve the Operating Unit’s strategy, priorities, and multi‑year roadmap aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Translate strategy into clear initiatives, milestones, and KPIs; track progress, identify risks and opportunities, and drive course correction as needed.
  • Lead strategic analyses related to market trends, competitive dynamics, portfolio optimization, and growth opportunities, both organic and inorganic.
  • Support executive decision‑making through insights, scenario planning, and recommendations on investments and resource allocation.

Governance, Chief of Staff & Executive Enablement

  • Serve as Chief of Staff to the ACM OU President, acting as a strategic thought partner and extension of the President’s office.
  • Lead the operating rhythm of the ACM Leadership Team, including meeting agendas, materials, decision tracking, and follow‑through.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across functional leaders to ensure clarity of decisions and execution against commitments.
  • Act as a connector between the Operating Unit, enterprise partners, and key stakeholders.

Business Process & Operational Excellence

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of core business processes to improve speed, clarity, and execution effectiveness.
  • Sponsor and lead cross‑functional initiatives that simplify ways of working, strengthen governance, and improve business outcomes.
  • Develop and manage executive dashboards and performance management processes that provide visibility to business health and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with functional leaders to embed sustainable process improvements and change management practices.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of business process professionals, setting clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Build team capability in strategic problem‑solving, process design, analytics, and executive communication.
  • Foster a “Play to Win” culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage resource planning and talent development to meet evolving business needs.

Portfolio, Program & Communication Leadership

  • Establish portfolio management processes to prioritize initiatives based on strategic value, capacity, and impact.
  • Provide governance and visibility across critical initiatives, enabling effective trade‑off decisions.
  • Lead development of executive‑level communications, including presentations and strategic narratives for internal and external audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience, or Advanced degree and at least 13 years of relevant experience

10+ years of experience working in finance/strategy/marketing (i.e. competitive analysis, market models, strategic plans and financial models)

!0 years of experience in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will bring an external lens, drawing on insights from industries such as fintech, telecom, industrial automation, and digital health where software platforms have redefined customer engagement and operational models. This role will also play a key part in supporting business development initiatives.

  • Knowledge of medical device industry practices, techniques, and standards
  • Previous work experience from management consulting firm
  • Works and champions ideas at the regional and global level

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, consulting, finance, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including leading and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Experience partnering closely with senior executives in a Chief of Staff, strategy, or enterprise leadership role.
  • Proven success leading complex, cross‑functional initiatives in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect strategy to execution.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$229,600.00 - $344,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
