This position supports the Global Strategic Advisory business group which is part of the Ankura Consulting Group.

Our Newstate practice is an international financial advisory firm with offices in London, is seeking to expand its activities and wishes to recruit a Senior Director.

The Role:

The Senior Director will be expected to support the Partners work with sovereign clients, public sector institutions and sovereign creditors. This will include advice on sovereign debt management, debt restructuring, capital markets access and creditor engagement.

Responsibilities:

The role will involve providing quantitative and analytical support across both sovereign-side and creditor-side mandates, including debt sustainability analysis, debt portfolio analysis, cash flow modelling, financing strategy, liability management options, recovery analysis and the assessment of potential restructuring scenarios. The Senior Director will also help monitor developments in emerging market debt capital markets, track sovereign credit and financing conditions, and undertake research into countries facing, or at risk of facing, debt distress.

In addition, the Senior Director will support the preparation of client presentations, proposals and strategic briefing materials for governments, official-sector stakeholders, sovereign creditors and investor groups. This will include translating complex financial and macroeconomic analysis into clear, practical advice for senior decision-makers. The role will require close collaboration with senior colleagues and may involve frequent overseas travel in connection with client engagements and business development opportunities.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a degree qualification ideally in either Economics or Finance and extensive experience in complex financial modelling. Previous experience working with sovereigns on financial matters would be a distinct advantage. He or she will have a sound understanding of financial markets and instruments and excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Familiarity with macro-economic fundamentals would be an advantage as would fluency in another language. Frequent overseas travel is foreseen.
