ultrainnovative – Tackle rare and dynamic challenges

This key position will represent Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) across functional teams for pipeline and commercialized programs.

The Senior Director Global HEOR, is responsible for leading the development and tactical execution of HEOR strategies for pipeline and commercialized programs, working cross-functionally to provide leadership for HEOR across the portfolio of Ultragenyx programs globally.

Generate HEOR data to support clinical development and reimbursement filings, including design, implementation and data analysis of HEOR studies and provide consultation as an internal subject matter authority in HEOR to other departments.

Research activities can include cost-effectiveness models, budget impact analyses, systematic literature reviews and indirect comparisons, cost-of-illness and burden of illness studies, retrospective data analyses and claims analyses, data analytics and publications.

This global role will lead HEOR assessments using existing bodies of evidence and generating data where they do not exist and will assist with any relevant HEOR and outcomes research, statistical analysis plans, and analysis output as requested across programs.

Work Model:

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identified as an HEOR subject matter expert, able to provide consultation as an internal HEOR subject matter authority to other departments and responsible for developing HEOR strategy and leadership among cross-functional project teams, to mitigate risk and achieve success, across the portfolio of Ultragenyx programs globally
  2. Generate HEOR data to support clinical development and reimbursement, including design, implementation and analysis of HEOR studies
  3. Proactively collaborates and demonstrates cross-functional leadership across the organization to facilitate alignment around key HEOR endpoints, outcomes and deliverables and partners closely with internal stakeholders, including medical, clinical development, commercial, market access, endpoint development strategy and management team to identify and develop appropriate HEOR strategy to support global development and reimbursement plans across US, Canada, EMEA, LATAM and APAC regions
  4. Identify evidence gaps to inform strategic planning and lead development of new evidence strategies to increase understanding of target patient populations of UGX programs and lead development of new evidence generation strategies to achieve market access across global target patient populations of UGX programs
  5. Review and provide health economics and outcomes research input into clinical development program planning, integrated evidence generation plans, regulatory documents with accuracy and scientific integrity
  6. Provide leadership through influencing without authority across project teams, internally and externally, can identify & lead cross functional teams for external collaborative research partnerships from project inception thru publication(s) and presentation(s)
  7. Represent Ultragenyx as Global HEOR subject matter expert at external professional, scientific meetings and forums

Requirements:

  1. BA/BS in the Life Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology or Health Economics and MA/MS in the Life Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Economics or Pharmacy; Prefer advanced degree in the life sciences (PharmD, PhD, MD)
  2. 12 + years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical industry, with health economics and outcomes research, with clinical background/research experience preferred
  3. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and across the matrix. Key stakeholders include Medical Strategy, Clinical Development, Regional Market Access, Biostatistics, Molecular Diagnostics, Epidemiology, Global and Regional Commercial
  4. Experience in health economics and outcomes research activities including de novo evidence generation, economic modelling, input into clinical trial design & analysis, evidence- based synthesis from literature, and study design, data management and analysis.
  5. Effective communication of HEOR strategy and findings, both written and verbal, is required.
  6. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, across multiple assets, and to develop credibility with colleagues, influence decisions with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and across the matrix.
  7. Strong technical expertise in HEOR principles, and knowledge of analytical applications, demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of, and the ability to interpret, quantitative methods is required
  8. Experience in strategic planning and project management, with proficiency in working cross-cultural/global teams
  9. Experience in Gene Therapy and in Global HEOR strongly preferred
  10. Experience in Rare Disease preferred
  11. Travel: approximate 10-25%

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.


This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
