The Job

  • Lead the Compliance Project Management Team, including its governance framework, delivery standards, project portfolio, reporting and project management tracking tools, templates and escalation protocols.
  • Oversee the delivery and progress of Compliance-led and Compliance-related projects, ensuring clear scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, issues and accountabilities.
  • Develop integrated project plans and maintain accurate project dashboards, action trackers, decision logs, risk and issue registers, change records and supporting evidence to provide a complete audit trail.
  • Follow up remediation actions for Compliance-related incidents, ensuring root causes, control enhancements, owners, target dates, testing and closure evidence are properly documented.
  • Lead the AML systems revamp and support the implementation of new project initiatives.
  • Act as the Compliance project manager for major business and regulatory initiatives, ensuring Compliance requirements and dependencies are embedded in the overall project plan.
  • Facilitate project working groups and governance forums, prepare concise management updates, secure decisions and approvals, and escalate material delivery risks promptly to the Chief Compliance Officer and relevant committees.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, including three lines of defence, Group Office, external advisers and business teams, while maintaining clear delineation of project and control ownership.
  • Build project management capability within Compliance through coaching, practical guidance, standard methodologies and continuous improvement.
  • Perform any ad hoc duties or special projects as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.

The Person

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law, risk management, information systems, project management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in financial services, insurance, banking, consulting, regulatory remediation, compliance transformation or programme and project management, including substantial experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience leading a project management team or project portfolio and engaging senior executives, regulators, auditors, vendors and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate experience managing regulatory, audit or compliance remediation programmes and delivering system, data, process or methodology change.
  • Exposure to AML/CFT, sanctions, name screening, customer risk rating, transaction monitoring, data quality or other financial crime controls is highly preferable.
  • Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, CAMS or an equivalent compliance, audit or risk qualification is an advantage.
  • Sound understanding of insurance and financial services regulatory frameworks, Compliance governance and applicable AML/CFT and financial crime requirements.
