About the Team:

The Rx Data Strategy & Analytics organization enables data-driven decision-making across Optum Rx and operates within the Ireland Analytics organization. They partner with business, operations, clinical, finance, and technology leaders to deliver trusted data, actionable insights, and scalable analytics solutions that improve business performance, operational efficiency, and client outcomes.

The organization leads enterprise data strategy, governance, analytics, AI, and data management initiatives, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset. By combining deep business knowledge with advanced analytics capabilities, the team helps drive innovation, informed decision-making, and measurable business value across the enterprise.

About the Role:

The Senior Director, Analytics leads the development and execution of enterprise analytics, and insight-generation capabilities that enable data-driven decision making across Optum Rx. This role is responsible for defining analytics strategy, and delivering scalable analytics solutions that drive business performance, operational efficiency, revenue growth, and client value. Working closely with executive and functional leaders across business, operations, finance, clinical, technology, formulary, and rebate organizations, the role ensures analytics investments are aligned to strategic priorities and measurable outcomes. The position champions trusted data, advanced analytics, AI-enabled insights, and continuous improvement while leading high-performing teams responsible for transforming complex data into actionable business intelligence.

The ideal candidate is a strategic analytics leader with experience using data, analytics, AI, and technology to drive business outcomes in a complex organization.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analytics Strategy, Solutions & Insights

  • Partner with business leaders to deliver analytics insights aligned to strategic priorities across Clinical, Formulary, Finance, Rebates, and Product, while expanding the team's remit to additional domains
  • Identify opportunities to apply analytics, AI, and automation across business domains to generate enterprise-level PBM impact
  • Advance the strategic agenda to evolve the team into an AI-native analytics organization

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary liaison for business domains supported by the current analytics team, while proactively identifying opportunities to expand analytics support across the PBM domains
  • Partner across Data Strategy & Analytics teams and capabilities to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach that delivers exceptional business outcomes
  • Build solid relationships with technology leaders and teams to support integrated delivery of analytics and AI solutions

Operational Excellence

  • Establish governance, prioritization, and performance tracking processes that focus team efforts on the highest-value business outcomes
  • Drive automation, standardization, and continuous improvement across analytics teams
  • Ensure analytics capabilities are scalable, sustainable, and adaptable to changing business needs
  • Maintain compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements

AI & Innovation

  • Champion AI-enabled analytics that deliver intelligent, proactive, and high-impact insights
  • Support the PBM AI-native vision, strategy, and roadmap by identifying opportunities to collaborate and expand our capabilities
  • Identify technology-enabled opportunities to strengthen decision support and improve operational effectiveness
  • Promote responsible, effective use of AI and enterprise data assets

People Leadership

  • Lead a multifaceted team-of-teams with a servant leadership mindset, fostering high performance, engagement, and employee development
  • Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Coach leaders and strengthen organizational capabilities to support future growth

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven significant leadership experience in analytics, operations, transformation, strategy, technology, healthcare, or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated solid executive presence, with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational change
  • Proven ability to thrive within highly matrixed environments and partner across business, technology, analytics, and product teams to deliver complex initiatives
  • Demonstrated solid leadership skills, a bias for action, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of a large, complex organization
  • Proven experience developing business cases, operating models, organizational capabilities, and strategic roadmaps
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, emerging technologies, and industry trends
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, with the ability to distinguish critical priorities from competing demands and operate effectively within ambiguous environments
  • Proven ability to synthesize large volumes of information and translate insights into actionable business decisions
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale analytics, business intelligence, technology, or transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Proven experience managing scope, resources, timelines, and budgets
  • Demonstrated solid relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
