
Job Description
Directs, coordinates, develops, and implements, policies and procedures to create and sustain a Centralized Clinical Engineering Division in accordance with and in support of the organization mission. Participates, as a subject matter expert, in the selection of clinical engineering equipment, as well as their related service strategies. Assists with developing new programs and business plans to expand the scope and impact of Clinical Engineering across the organization. Creates, maintains and reports out to senior leadership on operational metrics and industry benchmarks to ensure optimal performance is achieved and maintained.
Job Responsibility
1.Leads Clinical Engineering team by participating closely in the development of strategies, programs and initiatives that support and impact the overall Northwell health system goals.
2.Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility and/or new program development.
3.Assists in the development of strategic plans, particularly around the development, implementation, and sustainability of all standard policies and procedures for the clinical engineering support functions, across all modalities of clinical engineering devices, including diagnostic imaging.
4.Assists in the development and implementation of various of cost containment, savings, revenue generating and sustainability programs.
5.Acts as an advisor to interdepartmental leadership on the development and implementation of overall policy and long-term goals as it relates to the organization, vendors, and internal staff.
6.Acts independently to ensure the safety and compliance of all clinical engineering instrumentation and the maintenance and repair of equipment in accordance with organization policies, regulatory agencies and other statutory rules and requirements.
7.In collaboration with the divisional leadership, assists with making recommendations to senior and executive leadership around annual departmental financial budget, including but not limited to, savings and/or cost containment initiatives, business planning to support growth of division’s scope and positive impact to the organization’s bottom-line.
8.Analyzes total cost of ownership, including repair and maintenance expense, to ensure resulting feedback is provided to procurement and service lines, when evaluating new equipment for purchase and to ensure product warranties are accessed and monitored appropriately.
9.Develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the development, management and evaluation of indirect reports; advises in the development, oversight, recruiting, training and development and employee relations.
10.Leads initiatives, with site clinical engineering departments by providing guidance in the assessment, acquisition, and application of clinical engineering equipment technology by overseeing and advising on standards, around such essential tasks as; inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of clinical engineering equipment.
11.Participates in pre-purchase evaluation of medical equipment and utilizes subject matter expertise to provide alternative recommendations; exercises wide latitude of authority in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
12.Serves as the initial point of contact and liaison for projects requiring the input and/assistance of clinical engineering in equipment selection, decision and/or adherence to system equipment standards.
13.Collaborates with other team members to ensure data integrity and reporting of the asset management system utilized throughout the organization.

Job Qualification
1.Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
2.8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership/management experience, required.
