As a Senior Director of Merchandising & Buying for the EUME region, this leadership role will be responsible for driving the overall merchandising and buying strategy, ensuring that product assortments are aligned with market trends, customer needs, and the brand’s positioning. The position focuses on leading the development and execution of buying and merchandising strategies to ensure a successful product assortment, optimized profitability across multiple markets and channels and remove complexities within the European market Calendar and markdown cadence.

A Day in the Life:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Merchandising & Buying Strategy:

  • Lead the development and execution of the merchandising and buying strategy for the EUME region, ensuring alignment with global brand positioning, sales objectives, and market demands.
  • Drive the creation and optimization of product assortments for both the FP and OP channels, balancing core and seasonal products to deliver a distinctive offering.
  • Define product pricing and positioning strategies to reflect the nature of the brand while ensuring profitability.
  • Partner with the Planning Director to align on the OTBs and plan product demand across all retail channels, ensuring the right inventory mix and minimizing stockouts or excess inventory.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Build a strong partnership with Corporate to enable the Region to deliver on product successes and needs across the Region and channels.
  • Collaborate closely with the global buying and merchandising teams to align regional and global strategies, ensuring consistency across markets while respecting regional nuances.
  • Partner with the marketing and visual merchandising teams to ensure product assortments and displays align with brand campaigns and store aesthetics.
  • Work with the retail operations team to ensure products are effectively merchandised in-store and online, enhancing the customer experience and driving sales.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the merchandising and buying teams across the EUME region, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Sales, Profitability & Inventory Management:

  • Monitor sales trends and performance, adjusting product assortments and buying strategies as necessary to capitalize on growth opportunities and respond to changing market conditions.
  • Oversee the life cycle and end-end product management across all Channels within the business, ensuring we have a clear strategy and timely exits of product.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure that stock is available to meet customer demand while maintaining efficient inventory turnover.
  • Develop and implement markdown and promotional strategies to support product sell-through while safeguarding the brand’s positioning and margins.
  • Drive profitability by identifying opportunities to improve the product mix, and improving margin performance across the EUME region.

Market & Customer Insights:

  • Analyze regional market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive activities to identify opportunities for product innovation, category expansion, and brand differentiation.
  • Leverage customer insights and sales data to make informed decisions regarding product assortment, pricing, and inventory strategies.
  • Stay ahead of retail trends, ensuring that product offerings remain relevant, exclusive, and desirable in the highly competitive market.

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on merchandising performance, including sales, inventory, product trends, and opportunities for growth.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for adjusting strategies based on performance analysis and market conditions.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of buying and merchandising strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
