The Senior Director, Business Transformation Office – Chinese Mainland is a key member of the Transformation Office and China leadership team, reporting to the VP Global Deployment (HQ), with a dotted line to the Managing Vice President, Commercial – China. The position leads and coordinates Digital + Tech Transformation (DTT) efforts on behalf of China, and is primarily responsible for alignment, delivery and adoption of the Digital + Tech Transformation (DTT) program in China. DTT is a multi-year effort to transform Marriott’s technology and business process ecosystem, enabling Marriott to deliver on our vision to become the world’s favorite travel company. The Transformation Office has been established to enable and accelerate DTT through unique approaches to strategic planning, program management, change management, experience and business process design, China coordination, and deployment. Over time, this role may expand in scope to support additional technology deployment initiatives within the Mainland China region. This role will partner closely with the China Leadership Team, as well as the broader Transformation Office leadership team to ensure the unique needs for China are appropriately represented throughout all of the DTT efforts and is accountable for the successful delivery and adoption of the Change Management, Training, Deployment and Business Process efforts in China. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as a willingness to be tested on difficult and time-sensitive requests.
Responsibilities will include:
• China Continent Management + Oversight: Serve as the liaison between China and DTT core team. Provide coordination across all China discipline teams and DTT workstream tracks, executing workstream project milestones, raising risks and helping China teams prioritize the work.
• China Continent Engagement + Alignment: Involve and manage China continent stakeholders to ensure that China perspectives are heard and incorporated across the DTT workstreams. Coordinate China-specific forums and governance to surface critical risks and align on business decisions.
• China Continent Change Management, Deployment and Learning (CMDL): Lead China change management, training, business process, and deployment on all phases of the DTT effort. Ensure consistent pull-through and adoption of DTT in China. Provide oversight and support to the continent to plan, monitor and adjust (as needed) activities to ensure effective execution from pre-launch through cutover and into sustainment. Partner closely with China discipline teams, workstream leads, and the BTO PMO and CMDL organizations.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required
• 4-year degree or equivalent from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Technology or related major or equivalent experience is required.
• 10+ years of work experience in hotel, consulting or business analytics, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
• Lodging/hospitality industry experience across multiple brands and disciplines
• Experience managing large-scale initiatives, managing associated change and deploying initiatives at scale.
• Experience evaluating business trends and successfully implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance multi-unit business performance.
Attributes, Skills & Experience Preferred
• Leading + Execution: Proven track record of planning and executing strategic projects and initiatives in operations and or revenue management; deep project management skillset
• Change + Ambiguity: Able to lead the organization and team in working through unclear situations, challenges and opportunities through strong situation analysis and framing, rapid stakeholder assessments, critical decision making, solution brainstorming, and making data-driven way forward recommendations.
• Continent Experience: Experience working in the APEC or GC Continent organization and knowledge of the various markets, organizational structure, and ways of working.

• Advance Facilitation Skills: Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex stakeholder experiences, using design thinking, creativity, and expert communication skills, to deliver powerful, results-oriented meetings and workshops.
• Market Research + Analysis: Able to review complex data sets, synthesize accordingly, and frame critical business questions that result in actions that drive operational, process, and performance improvements.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
China Continent Management + Oversight
• Partner with China leaders and DTT BTO to plan and implement DTT initiatives with minimal oversight, to meet project objectives and goals on time and on budget
• Provide coordination of week-to-week progress of China activities – including (but not limited to) status reporting and aggregate timelines
• Develop, track and deliver a Value Realization approach for China in partnership with BTO, including managing and forecasting DTT budgets for the region
• Surface China-specific key insights for executive decision-making across key forums
• Support development of project plans across DTT workstreams and approaches that meet the needs of the China teams
• Develop and manage China risks and issues, prioritizing resolution
• Partner with the China workstream leads and BTO CMDL team to shape change + implementation strategies for the impacted China stakeholder groups
China Continent Engagement + Alignment
• Foster a positive climate to build effective teams that are committed to the DTT goals and initiatives
• Represent China point of view on all DTT initiatives with DTT workstreams and teams
• Update China stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, respond to concerns, and solicit feedback. Engage leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps.
• Provide China perspective in DTT continent forums and user advisory forums ensuring China feedback is captured, information is shared, and work sessions are conducted effectively on key topics
China Continent Change Management, Deployment + Adoption
• Lead the development of the China resource plan and business case to ensure China has appropriate resources and workstreams have appropriate SMEs
• Hire and oversee resources within the China team to support Change Management/Communications, Deployment planning and Command Center activities to deploy DTT China hotels
• Facilitate deployment work sessions with China teams for various phases of deployment beginning with the design of the deployment approach
• Work with off-shore 3rd party resources dedicated to providing implementation support for hotels in China
• Ensure consistent pull-through of change, training and deployment plans
• Ensure timely and accurate measurement of China readiness, adoption, and overall program
• Advocate for China deployment and adoption needs with the DTT workstream leads
