Position Overview:

The Sr. Director, Business Intelligence, Insights & Reporting leads the enterprise business intelligence strategy and delivery of trusted, actionable information across the organization. This role partners directly with executive leadership and business teams to translate retail priorities into scalable reporting, dashboards, analytics, and decision-support capabilities. The Sr. Director owns the end-to-end BI ecosystem, including user-facing reporting and insights, the enterprise data warehouse (EDW), data integration and ETL processes, data quality, governance, and platform performance. By combining deep retail knowledge, technical leadership, and strong business partnership, this position enables consistent performance measurement, faster decisions, and measurable business value.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the enterprise BI, insights, and reporting strategy and roadmap in alignment with company priorities and retail business objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership by translating complex data into clear insights, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Partner with leaders across merchandising, stores, supply chain, finance, marketing, loss prevention, and other functions to define decision-support and reporting needs.
  • Lead the design, development, delivery, and ongoing support of executive dashboards, operational reporting, self-service analytics, scorecards, and recurring business reviews.
  • Establish consistent definitions, key performance indicators, reporting standards, and data certification practices to create a trusted source of enterprise information.
  • Own the architecture, reliability, scalability, security, and performance of the enterprise data warehouse and related business intelligence platforms.
  • Direct ETL and data integration processes that acquire, transform, validate, and deliver data from retail, financial, digital, vendor, and enterprise systems.
  • Implement data quality monitoring, reconciliation, issue management, lineage, documentation, and governance practices in partnership with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team spanning BI development, reporting and visualization, data engineering, analytics, and production support.
  • Manage the BI demand portfolio, prioritize work based on business value and risk, define delivery commitments, and communicate progress and tradeoffs to stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption of reporting and analytics capabilities through stakeholder engagement, training, documentation, user feedback, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, data engineering, or a related discipline, including leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience in a retail environment with working knowledge of retail operations and performance measures across functions such as merchandising, stores, inventory, supply chain, finance, or
  • Proven experience delivering executive-level dashboards, reporting, insights, and presentations that convert business questions and complex data into concise, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data warehouse concepts, dimensional data modeling, data architecture, SQL, ETL or ELT processes, data integration, metadata, data quality, and production support.
  • Experience leading modern BI and visualization platforms, self-service reporting, governed semantic models, and enterprise reporting environments.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, influence without direct authority, and partner effectively with executive, business, and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a focus on measurable business outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, data and analytics, business, finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, and to manage sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
