Job Description

The Senior Director - Access, Therapy Initiation and Care Coordination is responsible for the strategic leadership, performance, and growth of CarepathRx's patient access and therapy initiation operations across specialty pharmacy, infusion, enteral, and emerging service lines. This leader oversees the end-to-end patient access continuum, ensuring efficient, compliant, and patient-centered processes that optimize speed-to-therapy, reimbursement performance, and customer experience.

As a key member of the Pharmacy Services leadership team, the Senior Director establishes strategic direction, drives operational excellence, advances organizational capabilities, and leads transformational initiatives that support sustainable growth. The role partners across clinical, commercial, revenue cycle, payer, technology, and client-facing teams to enhance service delivery, improve financial performance, and strengthen CarepathRx's position as a leading provider of pharmacy and patient access solutions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end patient access, therapy initiation, and care coordination operations, ensuring efficient, compliant, and patient-centered service delivery across Pharmacy Services.

  • Establish and drive performance against operational, quality, service, and financial objectives while promoting accountability for customer and patient outcomes.

  • Develop scalable operating models, workflows, and capabilities that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead transformation initiatives focused on process optimization, technology enablement, workforce effectiveness, and service innovation.

Patient Access & Care Experience

  • Develop and execute strategies that improve patient access, remove barriers to therapy, and accelerate speed-to-therapy across specialty pharmacy, infusion, enteral, and emerging service lines.

  • Partner with clinical, pharmacy, nursing, and operational leaders to coordinate seamless patient onboarding, therapy readiness, and care transitions.

  • Champion a patient-centered culture that balances quality, compliance, affordability, and service excellence.

  • Advance site-of-care and access strategies that improve patient outcomes while supporting organizational and client objectives.

Strategic Execution & Growth

  • Partner with commercial, implementation, client management, and operational leaders to support growth initiatives, new client implementations, and service line expansion.

  • Evaluate market trends, reimbursement dynamics, payer policies, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic priorities and operational readiness.

  • Drive innovation through optimization of technologies, automation, and business processes that enhance scalability, customer satisfaction, and organizational performance.

  • Collaborate with external partners, including payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, health systems, and patient support organizations, to strengthen patient access and service delivery.

Reimbursement Strategy & Market Access

  • Provide strategic leadership for reimbursement, authorization, and market access operations to optimize patient access and financial performance.

  • Establish best practices that improve approval outcomes, reduce denials, mitigate reimbursement risk, and strengthen payer engagement strategies.

  • Partner with Revenue Cycle, Finance, Contracting, and Clinical leaders to identify opportunities for reimbursement optimization and operational improvement.

  • Monitor industry, payer, and regulatory trends to proactively address market access challenges and opportunities.

Financial & Business Management

  • Own operational and financial performance, including productivity, service levels, labor efficiency, reimbursement outcomes, quality results, and profitability targets.

  • Lead budget development, workforce planning, resource allocation, and organizational prioritization to support strategic objectives

  • Leverage analytics and performance insights to drive decision-making, continuous improvement, and achievement of business goals.

  • Communicate organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and operational results to executive leadership.

Compliance, Risk & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, payer expectations, and organizational policies.

  • Partner with Compliance, Quality, Clinical Services, Revenue Cycle, Finance, and Contracting teams to mitigate risk and strengthen operational controls.

  • Establish governance practices that support audit readiness, reimbursement integrity, quality outcomes, and consistent operational execution.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team through coaching, succession planning, and organizational capability development.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead change management, workforce planning, and organizational development efforts that support long-term business growth and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 8+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience.

  • 6+ years leading large-scale patient access, specialty pharmacy, healthcare operations, revenue cycle, reimbursement, market access, or care coordination organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional teams across patient onboarding, reimbursement, authorization, financial assistance, care coordination, or related operational areas.

  • Experience leading large teams through operational transformation, growth, and process optimization initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of payer processes, insurance verification, benefit investigation, prior authorization, reimbursement programs, market access dynamics, and patient access operations.

  • Proven ability to influence and partner across executive leadership teams.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Pharmacy, Nursing or related field

  • Master's degree, such as MBA, MHA, MPH, or related discipline.

  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, home infusion, ambulatory care, patient access, reimbursement, market access, or patient support services.

  • Experience supporting health system partnerships and large-scale operational implementations.

  • Experience partnering with payer relations, contracting, revenue cycle, pharmaceutical manufacturers, or patient support program partners.
