Purpose of Position

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior DevOps Platform Engineer for our newly established Technology Hub in Madrid. As Senior DevOps Platform Engineer, you specialize in container technologies, cloud-native architecture and automation and will play a key role in designing, scaling, and evolving the platform that powers our engineering organization.

You will work across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, enabling consistent, secure, and developer friendly environments for application teams. You will contribute to global products and platforms that serve both internal and external customers in Commercial Real Estate across multiple regions. Working closely with international Product, Engineering, DevOps, Data, QA and Architecture teams, you will ensure delivery excellence, engineering quality and great consumer experience.

You are a hands-on problem-solver with strong design principles, who thrives in a collaborative and agile environment. As a senior member of the DevOps function, you will set technical direction, drive best practices. and mentor junior engineers while building solutions with real business impact.

Essential Functions and Job Duties

Platform Architecture and Cloud Engineering

• Architect and maintain enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms (AKS, GKE) with a focus on scalability, multitenancy, and global reliability.
• Define and own container lifecycle practices, including building pipelines, registries, vulnerability scanning and runtime policies.
• Lead the implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform/OpenTofu), ensuring automation, repeatability, and compliance across cloud environments.

Automation and Continuous Delivery

• Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support containerized workloads and cloud-native services.
• Be in charge of GitOps best practices and advanced deployment strategies.
• Build and maintain self-service tools to empower product and engineering teams while reducing operational overhead.

Security, Governance and Observability

• Establish security standards and policies for containerized environments (RBAC, secrets management, admission controllers, scanning)
• Partner with Information Security and Infrastructure teams to embed compliance controls into the platform.
• Implement advanced observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Datadog)
• Drive culture of test-first development with unit, integration and performance testing
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of production issues, ensuring high reliability and uptime
• Contribute to ongoing platform refactoring and modernization efforts.

Global Collaboration

• Act as a senior technical advisor to engineering leadership on platform and DevOps strategy
• Work closely with Engineering teams to optimize build pipelines, observability and deployment automation.
• Ensure compliance with global standards, information security policies and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate regularly with Infrastructure Teams, especially Cloud Engineering, to align on requirements, clarify priorities and deliver business value iteratively.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

• 5-8+ years of experience in DevOps, platform or cloud engineering, with a focus on containers and distributed systems.
• Proven expertise with Kubernetes, Docker and enterprise-scale container orchestration.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of GCP and Azure, including networking. IAM, storage and monitoring.
• Deep experience with Infrastructure-as Code (Terraform) and automation frameworks.
• Track record of designing, operating and scaling development platform in distributed, multi-team settings.
• Excellent understanding of security and compliance in cloud and containerized environments.
• Agile Development experience (Scrum/Kanban), including story estimation, code reviews and pair programming.
• Experience working in distributed or remote teams and using tools such as Jira, GitHub, Miro and Azure DevOps.
• Solid understanding of performance optimization.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English and Spanish.
• Understanding of secure development practices and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, GDPR, SOC2).

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Experience with service mesh architectures and advanced networking
• Knowledge of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid-cloud solutions.
• Familiarity with FinOps best practices and cost-optimization in large-scale cloud environments.
• Experience in working in a global, multi-cultural organization.
• Experience with observability tools (e.g. Sentry, Lighthouse etc.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing tech environment and to foster change in larger organizations.
