Job Description

 The Sr. DevOps Engineer is responsible for provisioning, configuring, securing, and administering cloud based, customer facing systems; LI-COR Cloud formerly known as HOBOlink and InTempConnect.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating and executing deployment plans for new software releases. Participate in the DevOps on-call rotation.
  • Provision cloud infrastructure using HashiCorp Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible.
  • Conduct security posture assessments, mitigating findings; Monitor and respond to ongoing threats.
  • Administer user access and identity management.
  • Monitor and manage network configuration and systems backup.
  • Observability and monitoring of micro-service environments using Grafana, Prometheus and AWS OpenSearch.
  • Act in alignment with business and user needs and contribute/support organizational policy.
  • Assist with and provide input to our annual operating budget and ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to complete the projects in a timely manner, following our quality and security standards.
  • Develop, setup, configure and monitor health and status of the whole stack: load balancers to filesystems and databases.
  • Work with Engineering SCM to deploy customer-facing systems.
  • Oversee software code scanning using SonarQube.
  • Help automate and streamline our applications, operations, and processes.
  • Develop, build, and maintain tools for monitoring and operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in all our environments including development, staging, performance, and production.
  • Schedule and execute system updates to hosted server instances.
  • Oversee backup process, perform periodic failover and redundancy testing.
  • Handle domain registration and maintenance.
  • Work regularly with: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Linux/Unix Administration, Maven, Jenkins, GoCD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based monitoring tools; Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, NewRelic, Java EE (Web applications); Vue.JS, Node.js, (HA) services and infrastructure (load balancers, database clusters, replication, and application server pools), PSQL and MySQL and scripting languages – shell, python.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science, computer engineering or a related field of study (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) and 8 year(s) of experience working in a DevOps role with database, cloud-based tools, and Amazon Web Services.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Linux and Windows operating systems, Terraform, Jenkins, GOCD, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, SonarQube, OpenSearch, New Relic, Snowflake, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, development of SQL queries, API calls, and scripting languages shell, python.
