What’s the role?

Our team of polyglot engineers builds delightful experiences for software engineers across Westpac. You will work on our flagship Mesh Connect Marketplace and the tools that enable developers to easily build, deploy, and run future‑ready applications. As a Senior Engineer, you will help shape the technical direction of the products and mentor junior developers within the team.

This role focuses on delivering high‑quality software while continuously improving build processes, tooling, and shared libraries for a broad developer community. It also emphasises strong collaboration, clear communication, and the removal of impediments to foster a motivated team and a thriving technical community.

What do I need?

  • A polyglot programmer with at least 5-10 years of experience.
  • Strong experience in developing APIs and micorservices with Java, with experience of Node.js or Python desirable and experience with JSON and other data formats is mandatory.
  • Strong version control practices using Git, including GitHub (pull requests, branching strategies, code reviews and CI integration).
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, build, test, release and operate, with a focus on quality and automation.
  • A strong understanding and experience with public cloud, ideally Azure and/or AWS.
  • Desirable to have exposure to SaaS based platforms such as Confluent Kafka, MongoDB, Harness etc.
  • Passionate about agile practises such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Pair-Programming and Continuous Delivery and Deployment.
