Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Developer - Delivery Engineering based in Canada.
This is a senior engineering opportunity within a small, high-impact Delivery Engineering team responsible for the systems that move code safely from development into production. You’ll own and improve CI/CD pipelines used by numerous engineering teams working in a shared codebase. The role combines operational ownership with strategic project work focused on automation, throughput, reliability, and developer experience. You’ll help expand delivery coverage across time zones while ensuring teams can ship confidently and efficiently. AI-assisted development is an important part of the engineering workflow, allowing you to focus more deeply on architecture, design, and correctness. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex platform challenges, working with considerable autonomy, and making engineering teams more effective.
Accountabilities:
- Take end-to-end ownership of delivery pipelines, ensuring reliable code flow into production and quickly diagnosing and resolving issues that block engineering teams.
- Expand delivery support across additional time zones by providing coverage from the Eastern time zone or further east, enabling more teams to deploy safely throughout the day.
- Improve deployment throughput by eliminating manual steps, optimizing orchestration, and scaling delivery systems to meet growing deployment demand.
- Design and implement changes to CI/CD workflows thoughtfully, considering their impact on teams across a shared codebase and supporting effective change management.
- Improve developer productivity by providing clear guidance, documentation, and technical support that helps engineers become more effective with delivery systems.
- Use AI-powered coding and agentic development tools to accelerate research, design, implementation, and maintenance of deterministic pipeline infrastructure.
- Monitor delivery health and system behavior through observability tooling, proactively identifying reliability, performance, and operational issues.
- Collaborate closely within a small, experienced engineering team, contributing to technical decisions and continuously improving the overall delivery platform.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a senior DevOps, delivery, platform, or infrastructure engineer, with strong practical knowledge of Git and modern CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Blacksmith, or Depot.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD architecture, deployment automation, and reliable software delivery practices.
- Hands-on experience with YAML-based configuration and Bash scripting, along with familiarity with Docker and containerized workloads.
- Experience using observability platforms such as Datadog to monitor pipelines, investigate failures, and understand system behavior.
- Proven ability to work with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows, using them effectively while maintaining ownership of architecture, code quality, security, and correctness.
- Experience working within a monolith or large shared codebase where changes, dependencies, or unreliable tests can have broad organizational impact.
- Experience scaling delivery systems within a high-growth environment is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics and support engineers across teams.
- Comfortable operating in an environment where priorities and roadmaps evolve based on organizational needs, with strong judgment and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
- Based in the Eastern time zone or further east, with Canada strongly preferred; Atlantic Canada or the UK may also be suitable. The role requires comfort with an earlier-than-standard start to extend delivery coverage.
- Ruby experience is a plus, particularly for working with deployment tooling, but is not required.
- Candidates who do not meet every qualification but demonstrate strong potential and enthusiasm for the role are encouraged to apply.
Benefits:
- Annual salary range of CA$128,000–CA$200,000, with most new hires joining at the accomplished level around CA$152,000
- Transparent compensation structure designed to reward professional growth, increasing responsibility, and meaningful contribution.
- Regular career development conversations and opportunities to expand technical expertise and impact.
- Comprehensive benefits package covering a broad range of employee needs.
- Remote work environment with a distributed team across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
- Opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure supporting a large, growing SaaS platform.
- Collaborative culture built around autonomy, open communication, continuous learning, and shared ownership.
- Strong exposure to modern AI-assisted engineering practices and opportunities to use AI to improve development workflows.
- A small, senior engineering environment where individual contributions have significant influence on delivery systems and developer productivity.
