PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Senior Developer - Business Applications & AI designs, builds and supports the business applications and integrations that underpin organization’s day-to-day operations. The role delivers solutions end to end, from user interface through to data and integration layers, across the company’s core Microsoft technology stack. It provides senior technical judgement on the applications portfolio, supports the replacement of legacy systems, and lifts the capability of the wider development team. In doing so, the position enables the reliable, scalable technology services on which the achievement of the company’s business plan depends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Design, develop, test and deploy end-to-end software solutions, spanning user interface, application logic, data and integration layers.

· Take technical ownership of assigned applications and projects, from requirements gathering through to delivery, handover and ongoing support.

· Develop and enhance solutions across the company’s core Microsoft technology stack, including .NET applications, ERP and business systems, low-code platforms and SharePoint.

· Build and maintain APIs and system integrations between internal applications, cloud services, customers and third-party providers.

· Engage business stakeholders to understand desired outcomes, translate requirements into practical technical solutions, and confirm those solutions deliver the intended benefit.

· Maintain the reliability of business-critical applications through problem analysis, troubleshooting, performance tuning and third-level support.

· Maintain and improve existing and legacy applications, and contribute to their planned modernisation and replacement.

· Uphold development standards through well-documented, maintainable code, active participation in peer code reviews, and current solution documentation.

· Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to less experienced developers, and promote effective use of modern development tooling, including AI-assisted development tools.

· Deliver assigned work to agreed project timelines and support service level agreements, and report on progress, risks and issues.

· Business stakeholders and process owners in operations, supply chain, sales and finance

· End users across all sites

EXTERNAL contacts

The position will be required to communicate externally with:

· Software vendors and implementation partners

· Third-party consultants and contracted developers

· Customer and supplier technical contacts for system integrations

Essential requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience.

· Five or more years’ commercial software development experience, including delivery of full stack solutions.

· Strong development skills in C# and .NET, together with front-end web development experience.

· Strong SQL skills and a sound understanding of relational database design.

· Demonstrated experience designing and building APIs and system integrations.

· Experience designing, building, extending and integrating solutions on an ERP or comparable enterprise business system, including customisations, extensions and reporting.

· Experience working within the Microsoft ecosystem, such as SharePoint, Azure or equivalent cloud services.

· Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day delivery.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of solutions and deliver to project timelines and support service level agreements.

· Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

· Australian working rights and the ability to satisfy any pre-employment checks required for the role.

DESIRABLE

· Experience with a mid-market ERP platform such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV, SAP Business One, NetSuite or similar, or a willingness to learn one.

· Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.

· Experience with Azure services, including data integration and messaging tooling.

· Experience integrating AI or large language model capability into business applications.

· Familiarity with EDI and retail or supply chain integration.

· Experience in food, FMCG, agriculture or supply chain environments.
