The Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks a Senior Design Liaison for its Design + Construction Excellence Unit. The selected candidate will oversee a portfolio of complex capital projects throughout the five boroughs and will be charged with supporting the development of high-quality, viable designs that contribute to a thriving, equitable, sustainable, resilient, and healthy city. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Design Liaison will be to 1) ensure the importance of design throughout the life of the project, from planning and initiation, including Request for Qualifications/Proposal development and consultant selection, throughout design and construction, and during project close-out, 2) support consensus building among the various project stakeholders while communicating why and how quality design can help solve problems that arise when addressing design approvals, budgetary constraints, and schedule requirements, and 3) work closely with Project Managers, Team Leaders, consultants, and sponsor agencies to support the development of a responsive design that meets or exceeds the mission and values of Design + Construction Excellence. The Senior Design Liaison will support the development of professional services procurements and will serve as the single point of contact with the Public Design Commission, managing the monthly submissions process for the entire agency. In addition, the Senior Design Liaison will prepare publications, presentations, and reports, and will organize events that highlight and advance Design + Construction Excellence, including but not limited to Peer Reviews, Consultant Engagement, and Design Value evaluations.

Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). ASSOCIATE URBAN DESIGNER - 22124

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree in architecture from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of full-time experience in planning, design, research, investigations and/or studies related to urban design development programs; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to ""1"" above. However, a baccalaureate degree in architecture is required of all candidates. Graduate work
leading to an advanced degree in architecture, urban design or city planning maybe substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
