Senior Design Engineer - TCS-268396

Job Purpose
The Senior Design Engineer – Train Control Systems (TCS) will be responsible for design, or review of the TCS and processes in accordance with project specifications and as guided or directed by the Project Engineer/Design Manager.

The role reports to the Design Manager, and to the Engineering Manager of the line of business functions.


Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements.
Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Engineering & Design Manager.
Coordinate the designs and selection of equipment to suit the contract requirements.
Coordinate or generate the contract Bill of Materials (BOM).
Coordinate /Prepare designs with simplicity, economy and sufficient to meet the project specifications.
Prepare designs or conduct reviews in accordance with the company design process, engineering instructions and quality procedures.
Prepare, register, and revise all company related inspection and test and quality documents.
Prepare Engineering documentation as required by the Design or Construction Manager and/or Engineering/Project Manager.
Ensure documents are maintained through registering all project documentation and correspondence on appropriate project databases/registers.
Review and agree with Planning Engineer / Design Manager / Project manager timeframes shown on respective programs.
Review and resolve queries with the Verification Engineer regarding designs.
Liaise with the Construction Manager and Design Manager to ensure adequacy of the design for manufacture and construction.
Attend design reviews as requested by the Project Engineer / Design Manager.


Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and able to obtain Acceptance by Engineers Australia or equivalent.
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the Train Control System industry mainly in the TCS design area with some on site work involved in testing and commissioning.
Demonstrated experience in delivery of projects.
